Review Quotes
"A tow truck shows off their holiday preparation skills.
This Christmas board book features many different types of vehicles, but when it comes to superior decorating and merrymaking skills, the wrecker takes top prize. There are holiday puns galore here: 'Boats buoy spirits / in low or yuletide.' 'Taxis fare well / at making things merry.' Young readers who adore all things with wheels will be delighted to see buses, race cars, semis, and trains, among others. The wrecker really takes center stage in this story, proving helpful at stringing Christmas lights, towing Santa's cookies, and hanging ornaments on a tree. . . . Full of what little readers love."
"An adorable addition to most board book collections, especially those in need of uplifting holiday stories."--School Library Journal
About the Author
Melinda Lee Rathjen grew up in southern Illinois, reading past her bedtime whenever she could get away with it. As an editor at WorthyKids, she still spends a lot of time reading, though stealth and flashlights are rarely necessary. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with two very opinionated cats. Gareth Williams was born in Hillingdon, West London, but ventured (when he was two) to the green valleys of South Wales. At an early age he loved to draw, and he quickly realized that his dream of becoming the first Welsh astronaut would be sidelined by his creative abilities and talents (but he still secretly wishes he could have rocketed into space). Gareth studied Illustration at Swansea Metropolitan and went on to work with leading stationery and greeting card companies. His work has a strong illustrative influence, with lots of textures and layers to create a hand-drawn style. Gareth lives in Romford, Essex, United Kingdom.Dimensions (Overall): 7.0 Inches (H) x 6.92 Inches (W) x .51 Inches (D)

Join the Wreckers as they have a good time celebrating Christmas. Fans of the Wreckers will be happy to see that they outshine all competition when it comes to carolers, gift wrapping, delivering and anything else associated with the season. Children will smile and laugh when the bright illustrations show the Wreckers can carry lots of presents, and that the Wreckers are decorated for Christmas. This large chunky board book is fun, and lighthearted. Children through four-years-old will enjoy making merry with this five-star book! Worthy Kids has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, Wreck the Halls, for the purpose of review.
WRECKING TRUCK HELPS AT CHRISTMAS

“To break it all down, what makes Christmas a gift is the love that we share — it gives us a lift!” Melinda Rathjen rhymes at the end of her children’s book, Wreck the Halls. ~ What ~ This twenty-page board book with rounded corners targets children ages two to five years old. With no scary scenes, it focuses on a wrecking truck and how it helps make Christmas special. Simplistic, colorful designs grace the pages with a decent font size. In this tale showing different vehicles helping to decorate Christmas, the wrecking truck is used to load up trees, set up festive displays, help wrap presents, tow cookies for Santa, pull a large weight of gifts, and deck the halls. Other vehicles such as cranes, police cars, trains, semis, race cars, snowplows, taxis, boats, and buses are mentioned and depicted. ~Why ~ This is a nice book to read to a young child who knows the difference between different types of vehicles and likes wrecking trucks and the holiday. The colors are bright and cheery, which could be used as a teaching tool for young ones. There is enough happening in the illustrations to keep a youngster engaged. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not like books about Christmas or vehicles may skip this read. Realists may feel that some of the statements are not true so will have to explain to an educated child that a wrecker cannot sing Christmas carols or wrap presents. ~ Wish ~ I had trouble with the concept of this book as it may be cute in its rhyming and pictures of a specific type of truck, but it didn’t correlate well with Christmas and Jesus’s birth. ~ Want ~ If you are looking for a book about trucks to give to a toddler for a Christmas present, this one may work well, but it doesn’t wreck any holiday halls. Thanks to Hachette Book Group, WorthyKids, and the author for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

Sturdy board book. Great illustrator. I checked this book out from the library and the kiddos liked it so much, I ordered one for our home. It has a nice flow to it as you are reading it.
