Book Synopsis
A comprehensive guide to Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings open to the public--revised and updated. Features 74 sites you can visit of America's best-known architect of the 20th century -- Frank Lloyd Wright's groundbreaking designs, innovative construction techniques, and inviting interiors continue to astound and inspire generations of architects and nonarchitects alike. Wright Sites describes the design ideas and history behind each of Wright's buildings that are open to the public in the United States and four sites in Japan. Includes suggested destination itineraries for Wright road trips, a list of archives, and a selected bibliography. Updated to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the architect's birth, this revised edition includes twenty sites newly opened to the public, up to date descriptions and access information, and new color photographs of each site. The introduction is written by Jack Quinan, a founding member of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy and author of Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House.Review Quotes
"With the newest edition of Wright Sites: A Guide to Frank Lloyd Wright Public Places, Joel Hoglund of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy provides the only comprehensive guide to Wright-designed buildings open to the public in the United States and Japan. Though the book is envisioned as a guide, it also illustrates Wright's professional evolution and philosophy of organic architecture, with photographic examples of his differing regional styles as well as Prairie Style and Usonian houses." - SavingPlaces.org (website of the National Trust for Historic Preservation)
