Q: What can be done about the odor?

A: Nothing. I left it outside to air out for a couple of days. Used vinegar, also used baking soda, also washed in the washing machine, it's still stinks.

Strong chemical smell doesnt go away
The size and pink color were exactly what I was looking for, however the chemical smell is very strong. I aired it out outside for a day, because the smell was so strong right out of the package. I washed it thoroughly and put it in the tub. It's been 2 weeks now and the chemical smell still lingers in the bathroom. I'm not sure if the smell will ever go away. I wouldn't recommend it.

Stinky
It's a cute little tub mat. But-It has a very sour stench to it. Makes the whole level of the house reek. Tied vinegar/h2o soak, baking soda/h2o soak & Tide wash. No improvement. I put it out in the garage, then garage reeked.Now I have it on the balcony. Will be returning it.

Love the mat, hope the rubber smell lessens
I really like the bath mat color, length and material, but the smell is horrible! I took the wrapping off and even aired it out outside, washed it, but it still has a rubber smell. This continues even after multiple showers. I really like the mat so I’m hoping it will dissipate over time. The length is great, much longer than a regular bath mat and it fits perfectly in the tub. There is still room by the drain and at the rear of the tub.
