It will play almost any format you throw at it. I couldn't have asked for a better product. The engineers at Yamaha have created a fabulous machine at a very reasonable price.

Well paired with my Yamaha R-N303 Receiver. Build quality is true Yamaha, I made a very good choice and would recommend this player to anyone that enjoys playing CD's.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The CD player is easy to use and is clearly well made. The onboard DAC produces very nice sound that is natural and clear. The ease of being able to hook it up to a different DAC using optical or coax is great. As both can deliver 96 khz audio from your usb drive hooked up to the front of the CD player. The control is easy to use and straight forward having standby as an option is convenient too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced my front room television entertainment system with a new Yamaha receiver/tuner, wireless Music Cast speakers, and the CD-S303 CD player. The CD player has a USB port in addition to the CD tray to allow the play of a variety of music source files. Great combination of components delivering quality sound. I only wish I had done this years ago... the TV will never adorn my front room again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second CD unit from Yamaha. This unit is fantastic. Great sound, and stability. My only complaint is small, but what is the point of Auto play? The player has to be turned off, then back on with a CD in the tray. This makes no sense. My suggestion is when a CD is loaded, it should play automatically if this feature is turned on. Maybe with the next software update, this issue could be addressed?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the S303, sounds great, it is hooked up to 1977 Marantz 2265B, the two of them together make beautiful music. Since I've had it, I've been listening to it for 5 to 8 hours a day. Personally I can't say anything bad about it. I have nothing but praise for it. Great CD player I would recommend it definitely to anyone. I'm listening to it right now while writing this review.Just Love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very impressed with the overall sound quality and ease of use. Purchase this to replace my old 25 yr old single disk Nakamichi CD player. The sound quality is awesome, playing some older CD's I now hear sounds that I grew accustom to not noticing were missing. Read some reviews about issues with software needing updating but not with me. Unpacked it, plugged it in and started listening. Controls are simple and clear. The remote is also easy to use. It was worth the money and I highly recommend it. #sweepstakes

This product looks great and is very easy to install and use. As far as sound, It sounds much better than my old Pioneer player. I have a Denon/Klipsch system and with the CD-S303BL it sounds great. Would recommend to anyone who wants to improve their CD's sound. It is also an excellent price.

I upgraded to the CD-S303 from a 6 disc player. What a difference in sound quality! It is amazing whether I listen to my speakers or my headphones. The clarity of vocals is important to me and this unit does not disappoint. The Pure Direct feature is my favorite. #sweepstakes

Ok so I have a good working non Yamaha CD player from the 80's. I saw this at a thrift store basically brand new in the box for pennies bought it untested. First impressions are good. It looks good and matches my other vintage Yamaha gear. My amp is a fully restored Yamaha B2 amplifier, T-1 tuner, YP-211 turntable, K-850 tape deck and NS-670 speakers. Its connected using the analog outputs. The Highs are great, bass is plenty and midrange excellent. It has plenty of features that I probably will never use, but nice to have. I usually put in a CD and let run. So far is has played all of my scratched CD's no problems. I'm not sure if it decodes SACD's. I like the easy lay out on the remote. The only thing is miss from my old CD player is the volume control and larger display.

First let me say I purchased the AS-501 Yamaha 80 watt amp and I totally love it. After purchasing the amp in black I decided to order the matching CD player. I had read reviews of problems out of the box with this player but I don't base my decisions on reviews only. I received the player and hooked it up to the amp using a high quality coaxial cable. Let me say the player operated and sounded fantastic. It was crystal clear and the perfect companion to the amp. I loved the remote and it worked from a far distance. I also loved the fact I could operate most of the players functions with the amps remote. Let me also say I keep my cd's in pristine condition. No scratches or smudges at all. The next day I started hearing split second interruptions at times in the music. I thought it was my imagination, that is how quick it was. Then it would stop and everything was fine. I thought it might have been a quirk or something. Playing different cd,s I heard nothing until about half way through the cd's. Then this strange phenomenon would start up again. In fact after a short time I heard sporadic thumping sounds from the speakers too. Then it would stop. To be fair to the unit I went another day to test it out with different cd's. It would start out fine then the noises would start up again and then stop sporadically. I figured in time it would just get worse so I sent the unit back. Going back and reading more reviews of this same problem I decided not to take a chance on a different unit. I wound up buying another top brand and I have had no issues with it at all. But here is the kicker. I don't like the unit as much as the Yamaha, especially the remote. It has no far away operating distance at all. The display is hard to read too. But that being said if sounds great and it plays cd's perfectly. It has a silver front and does not match. If the Yamaha had worked properly I would rather had it. But the bottom line is the music and the (C) brand plays fine.

This CD player has great sound. If paired with a Yamaha A-S801 Integrated Amplifier use the optical out and one remote will control both units. The unit functions quickly when inserting/ejecting a disc. All in all very pleased with this.

Nice enough player but this whole updating the firmware stuff is ridiculous.

I have had it a few months now and it has been working perfectly. Plays any CD I try in, including some scratched up ones I got used. Sounds great.
