About the Book
"Una Rayne is setting off on a new adventure, but the fog and her fears are holding her back. Until she hears her mama singing the best song--a song that gives Una hope and courage, a song that reminds her bravery doesn't come from inside you, it comes from knowing you're loved by the One who created love and is Love Himself" -- Inside jacket.Book Synopsis
The simplest of truths told through the sweetest of songs can change the world.Early one foggy morning, Una Rayne feels unsure about the day ahead of her. She sits down on the porch with her mama, who sings a song of truth over her: "Jesus loves you, makes you strong. In Him, you're brave and you belong." Una Rayne steps bravely into her day, her mama's words a reminder of how much she is loved by Jesus. When no one seems to want to sit with Una Rayne at lunchtime, she bravely sings the song, and others are drawn to come sit with her. Through the song, the children hear that they are chosen and loved by Jesus, "not for what you do, but for who you are. For whose you are." As Una Rayne continues to live with bravery and kindness, the song spreads throughout the world and fills the hearts of all who hear it.
Many children face fear and uncertainty. This book gives them the confidence to know that they are secure and safe in Jesus, no matter what comes. It also encourages them to share God's love with others because bravery in Jesus is contagious and world-changing!
Features include:
- A page to attach your child's picture that makes this a uniquely personalized kids' book
- Exquisite acrylic artwork by illustrator Amy Grimes
- Inspirational prose about finding your security and identity in Christ

This heartfelt story will help your child internalize the truth that their ultimate sense of well-being can be found in the love of Jesus Christ.
Review Quotes
The start to Una Rayne's day is a metaphor for her feelings; the thick fog keeps her from seeing the way forward. But before Una Rayne can express her fear, her mother is there saying that in the child's heart "lives the biggest and greatest song. The one that makes you brave." And as Una Rayne dons her backpack and sets off, her mama sings it to her: "Jesus loves you, / Makes you strong. / In Him you're brave / And you belong." As the song reverberates, the fog disappears. When Una Rayne can't find a place to belong at lunchtime, her song leads her to make her own space, and she attracts new friends to her, to whom she teaches her song. Toward the end, the book turns toward overt religious teaching, though the messages are welcome and needed: "Jesus . . . is Love Himself. And His whisper beats inside our hearts." A final scriptural quote from Zephaniah ends the book on a page with space for a child's photo. Grimes' illustrations are full of marvelous textures and patterns, especially in the leafy green trees, and facial expressions and gestures do a lot of the heavy emotional lifting. Una Rayne presents Asian; her mother has light skin and straight, light-brown hair. Background characters are diverse.--Kirkus Reviews

Beautiful illustrations and writing from a long-standing great author. Most importantly it's an empowering message for kids to be brave because they have Jesus helping them always. The lunch part really inspires my daughter. Love the easy-to-remember song too! I could see my 8 year old niece loving it too.
Beautiful!

Your Brave Song, written by one of my favorite authors and illustrated by an artist whose whimsical works I admire, is a beautiful book. It touched my heart, its tender words bringing me to tears. I need its message as much as kids do! I'm prone to listen to the lies and forget how God sees me.
