Latch is too thin and easily broken if bottle is dropped. On our third!
On our third one. The bottle itself is great, but the latching mechanism is weak. It is too thin and if the bottle is dropped it snaps off, preventing the lid from staying closed (spring loaded). Still using the original bottle but now purchased the third one to get replacement lids every time they have broken

The AutoPop lid is designed with a spring-loaded mechanism to stay securely closed during everyday use, but as you noted, it can be vulnerable if the bottle is dropped. A few tips that may help prolong the life of the lid: Avoid drops when possible – Even with durable Tritan plastic, impacts can weaken the latch over time. Check the spring and latch – Ensure the spring inside the lid is fully seated, and the latch moves freely without obstruction. Regular cleaning – Residue in the latch or hinge can affect its strength, so rinsing and drying the mechanism thoroughly may help. We understand this has been frustrating. Mold grows, making more plastic to the landfill.
Sadly this water bottle builds up a black mold under the cap in less than a year if you use it daily. The piece that grows mold can’t be removed, the mold grows underneath it. I have had three of these. It’s not a fluke. Every one has done this. The stars are for the easy open, and lightness.

I've been buying these water bottles for years. They are great! I love the pretty colors and that the water spout is larger than normal and easy to drink from. I don't have to deal with any straws. The cap stays on tightly and I've never had any problems with it. It holds 24 ounces, which is a good amount. It's also easy to clean.

Best water bottle for school
This is our favorite brand and this is our favorite model for students and adults. The bottle is sturdy, light but not cheaply made, spill proof, and no straw. My messy teenage boys love it. The reason why they don't want a straw attached is because straws tend to grow mold no matter how we take care of them. I have a 32 oz one for myself and I absolutely love it and carry it everywhere I go. We have been through all kinds of bottles. This is the best.

Great bottle except….
I love this bottle - the size, the handle and the lock top. In fact, I ordered another set. However, the major reason for only giving it a 3-star is the silicone gaskets gather mold despite proper care and cleaning. I have tried every way suggested to clean these gaskets all to no avail. Unfortunately, if I were to disassemble it, then it would leak. In reading other reviews, I see that this is problematic for many others. Hopefully Contigo will either improve this flaw, provide replacement tops or design the gasket so it can be cleaned properly.

Mold Issue Is Real
The reported mold issues on the seal are legitimate. I was able to remove the seal but you should be able to replace either the complete lid or just the seals. There is no way that Contigo does not know about this issue, I would imagine that they just want the consumer to keep replacing bottles instead of fixing a known problem.

Have to buy! This a winner!
Hands down the #1 water bottle especially for school. I have bought countless bottles and this was the winner. Easy to clean, easy to open, easy to carry, no leaks, very durable. My kids use these bottles for school and they will not use any other kind of bottle.

Nothing is better! 24 oz is so perfect, better than most which are 20. Now it holds ice PLUS the drink. the lock, the pop-open, are usual and great. I love: wide mouth, dishwasher, finger holder thingy (strong). Only problem: when the rubber washer inside the top comes loose, bottle leaks. BUT everything else is so perfect, I found a way to fix: hold 2 sides of washer down with one pair of thin tongs, and with other hand use thin knife to push washer back in place. I test it for leakage before I leave house and fix before I go.

Good, lightweight water bottle: fragile lid
Good water bottle. Sleek design and lightweight. I miss the old styles with the clip, but this works well too. Auto pop lid is quiet. Main concern, like other reviews have mentioned, is the lid is fragile and prone to fractures when dropped. No replacement lids are available. Consider stronger water bottle if predict rough handling.

Constant leaking! Even when the bottle was just at an angle. My last bottle had a pop lid and didn't have this issue, the new design doesn't seem to work as well.

So much waste!
I love how this bottle fits in my hand. However, the lid broke and became unusable the first time I accidentally knocked the bottle onto the floor. I could not buy a replacement lid so I was stuck with an unusable bottle. I bought a second bottle but the plastic liner has popped out of the lid and cannot be popped back in. I now how two bottles and no lids that work. Contigo - you need to make replacement lids and plastic liners available for sale.
