SYLVANIA Roadsight Basic Dash Camera - 110 Degree View, HD 720p, 16GB SD Memory Card Included

I purchased two Sylvania dash cams in 2020 (one pro and one basic). They have been great dash cams, but apparently Sylvania has reduced their standards for the newer production. I purchased a new Sylvania dash cam in 2023 and it is completely useless. The camera gives a message that the card must be formatted but everytime I try to format the card the device becomes frozen on the "formating card..." screen. It will not even manually power off, the reset button must be pushed and then it just returns to saying the card has to be formatted. It also does not turn on consistently. This is not a power supply issue because I have swapped it out with the older cameras and they work fine. It is just this brand new, junk out of the box, 2023 Sylvania dash cam that is the problem. Sylvania you had a really great product, what happened?! Wasted my money, really dissapointed.

Only thing I wish it had was the ability to hook up to a rear back up camera other than that I think it's a solid product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hi This device has a good package content except memory card which was not working. It has a tool to remove device from windshield which was handy. Extra layer of tape was good idea. Installation was not easy. Actually there is a sticky layer which hold windshield strong but settling up picture tilting and adjusting was hard. It is not able to turn to left-right just up and down is possible. But it's magnetic holding mechanism was perfect. It was a good idea. Running performance was poor to me. Its memory card needs to be formatted when it is full. It is not deleting by itself from the most previous footage. It is manual and needs to be formatted. While driving it is restarting and asking you to format it which is annoying. I couldn't watch recorded videos from device. You need a computer separately which is not handy. Video quality didn't satisfy me. It is focusing on dirts on windshield. Night recordings are not enough.

Once charged, the 16 GB micro SD card gets inserted into the camera, the magnetic camera mount attaches to the windshield and you're ready to go! This records up to 3 hours of video footage and automatically powers on and off with your car. I like this dash cam especially because it has collision detection. It makes me feel safer on the road. I highly recommend for any driver.

The charging cord is long enough to accommodate most any setup, and even includes an extra USB port. The included trim tool worked perfectly and made for a smooth install. All in all a wonderful dash camera, ready to fire up straight out of the box.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sylvania Roadsight Basic is just that. It is a good, affordable dash cam that can record up to 3 hours of footage on a 32gb SD micro card before it loops back and re-records at 720p HD. The 110 degree angle that it records with was better than I expected. It has an audio on or off option which sounds fine. The cigarette lighter adapter wire is certainly long enough to hide around the nooks and crannies of your vehicle. For a higher end, pricier dash cam you will get a slightly better field of view, 1080p or more to read plates better and night vision, but are these extra bells and whistles really worth spending up to twice as much as this dash cam which already has more than plenty of options in itself such as the G-Sensor Hit Detection software which will automatically lock and save your video? Plus, It also has a magnetic mount so you can easily remove the cam if you are travelling in states where dash cams are illegal. You can also snap photos with it to take clearer pictures. In the future, I may upgrade to a higher end dash cam or I may not. For the moment, I am pleased enough with my Sylvania Roadsight Basic dash cam.

I received the basic version and have not tried all of the functions yet, but I have set it up in my car, plugged in, it has a good view, sticks well, and I assume it will work in an emergency crash if my front end were to get hit. We'll have to see!

Including accidents, misfortunes, breakdowns ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS RECORDED. It makes me feel much safer knowing that everything is being filmed.
