Yankee Candle fragrances are designed to deliver a consistent, clean burn with rich scent throw. If you're experiencing strong black smoke, it may be due to the wick being too long. We recommend trimming the wick to about 1/8 inch before each use and keeping the candle away from drafts, which can cause uneven burning and soot.
