That said, we’re truly sorry to hear about your experience with the burn performance. We appreciate how meticulous you are with wick trimming and proper burn times, and we absolutely understand how frustrating it can be when, despite doing everything right, a candle still tunnels. Our large jar candles are designed to provide a long-lasting, even burn, but occasionally, a candle can behave unpredictably due to a variety of factors, including wax density variations, drafty environments, or even manufacturing inconsistencies. In this case, it sounds like the wax didn’t pool fully across the surface, and we agree: once tunneling sets in deeply, it becomes very difficult to correct. Here are a couple of tips that sometimes help, especially early on: On the first burn, be sure to allow the wax pool to reach the edges (which can take up to 3–4 hours in a large jar). If tunneling starts, using a candle topper (to retain heat and encourage an even melt) or wrapping foil around the rim while burning can help correct the wax memory. But even with best practices, we understand that sometimes a candle simply doesn’t perform as expected, and that’s not the experience we want you to have.
