Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Don’t have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Standing with feet together and back to a wall. Measure from floor to the top of the head.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

    Sizing between colors varies drastically

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] (Sorry about my bad lighting.) I ordered two sweaters in different colors (Clay and Hot Cocoa), but the same size. When I received them, I thought one had been sent in the wrong size! But no, they both say 5t-6t on the tag. When I contacted goumi, they basically just told me that yeah, they change the sizes between colors so I shouldn't expect consistency. This would be fine if they mentioned it in the product info, but they don't. So now I'm stuck with a sweater I can't use.

    Seriously the best!

    These sweaters are amazing and look absolutely adorable on both of my boys. My oldest is 6 and is tall and skinny. He is wearing the size 4-5 and it fits him perfectly. We have the 5-6 as well but it’s just a bit more oversized. So whichever look you are going for. My youngest is 2 and is wearing the 6-12mo size. Love the pecan color, it’s one of my favorites. So sad I was late to the game and missed the matching mama sweater. But my boys look adorable matching and they were perfect for some of our Christmas sweaters. They are nice and warm and the pecan color goes great with anything. It is knit and can snag, so just be careful of that. But overall, they’re adorable and we get compliments on them every single time we wear them.
