I’ve used 4 step for years but this past year grass was not as healthy dark green. Has product changed? Also smaller coverage per bag for same price. Poor move.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Lawn Pro Step 4 Fall Lawn Food and appreciate your feedback. The most common reason a lawn does not respond to fertilizer is soil pH. Soil pH must be in-between 5.5-7.5 for fertilizer to be absorbed by the grass. Perform a soil pH test. Thatch over 1/2" thick prevents the nutrients from getting to the plant roots. If the lawn isn't receiving at least an inch of water per week, then the lawn will not green up as fast. The 4-Step program gives great results, especially when applying a complete Annual Program. The 4-Step program provides a slightly higher potassium feeding which helps to improve the over all health of your lawn. This product is available in 5,000 sq. ft. and 15,000 sq. ft. sizes only. Scott’s 5 second RO works awesome. Had used it for years but had back surgery and paid a service last year and the lawn looked good until their grub treatment didn’t work and grubs did damage. Back on the Scott’s and the lawn is envy of neighbors. Don’t forget your annual grub treatment!

Yesterday I bought the Step 3, 15,000 sq ft. bag. Not only has the price jumped up but there is less in the bag. Now I don't know what setting to use on my spreader and frustrated by the reduced amount. I have been using the Step 4 process for two years and have been pleased. With the huge price increase and the lesser amount I have to consider another brand.

This is my first time using the 4 step program. I was very pleased with Step 1. My lawn was lush and turned emerald green. 7 weeks later in early May I applied Step 2. My lawn is loosing it’s green color and now has a lot of brown coming through. I am afraid of loosing my beautiful lawn to Step 2. I wonder if Step 3 will help bring back the green color and improve what seems to be lost.

I was able to discontinue the lawn service which was doing nothing to very little for my lawn. Now? We are the envy of the block. Not only is our lawn gorgeous, we are saving hundreds of dollars by doing it ourselves. We're in our 70's and don't think it is too much difficulty as we just take our time to cover 10,000 square feet.

I had Scott’s lawn care service for years and switch to a organic lawn care service. After two years neighbors asked what happen to my yard. I starting doing my own yard using the 4-step program. My yard is thick and green and neighbors are impressed

If you are going to sell and deliver a four step process to my house the bag should say step 1, step 2, step 3 and step 4 on each bag. I shouldn't have to guess or look it up.

I have used the 4-step program for several years now and, while I am very happy with Steps 1-3, I have not been happy with Step 4 results. Please note that I always dormant overseed each late fall just before our Minnesota snow season begins. Each spring for the last 3 or 4 years my lawn has large areas of grass that does not grow causing me to reseed the non-growth areas. These non-growth areas did not occur until I started using the Step 4 product. I will continue to use Steps 1-3 again this year but I will go back to my former approach of putting down a Starter fertilizer application in late fall.

We are sorry that you're not satisfied with the results after applying Step 4 Lawn food to your lawn. When applying to an over seeded lawn the product should have no affect on the germination of your seed. Reapplication of seed in the bare spots is a good way to get the seed to grow, We also have an EZ seed product that's good for patch repair. It also grows in any condition. We've even seen germination on concrete. Next time you have this issue, patch over it with the EZ seed and this should remedy your issue for good. In 3 years my lawn was half dead and half weeds. I fired the landscaper and for 2 years now I have been back to the 4 step program and I have a beautiful lawn again. I also use my Scotts Speedy Green spreader.

I was very pleased. I am 76 and after my husband passed away I just hired someone. He had always used Scotts so I decided to do it again.

I used Scotts 4 step program again this year and my lawn looks just awful. The crabgrass and other weeds have taken over to the point where I have just as much grass as weeds.

I was previously using off name standard weedkiller/fertilizer products and my lawn looked fairly decent but wanted it to take it to the next level. I enrolled in the Scott's 4 step program even though it was quite a bit more money and my lawn looks horrible this year. The fertilizer was average and it did work but not a single weed died and there was definitely no preventing weeds. My lawn is now full of crabgrass clover dandelions and tons of other weeds which it never had an issue with. Mid summer it also developed bare spots for some unknown reason. Don't waste your money!

What is really nice about Scotts 4 step, is that you buy ALL 4 bags in the Spring (watch the newspaper for the sale), then you nave NO excuses, NO MORE need to make a trip to go buy fertilizer. Just apply whenever you have a holiday (and you have an extra day too): Step 1 - Apply near the Easter holiday Step 2 - Apply near the Memorial Day holiday Step 3 - Apply near the Independence Day (July 4) holiday Step 4 - Apply near the Labor Day holiday A perfect product for perfect lawns with perfect holiday times to apply!

I bought the deal for all 4 steps this past spring. In the past I had a lawn service, but had to cut back. Figured I would do it my self with the 4 step program and glad I did. My lawn has filled in where weeds once were with thick grass and is a beautiful green. I followed the timing on the front of each bag as to when to apply and it was as simple as that. Saved hundreds compared to the lawn service this season and had a lawn I was proud of. Only thing to note was that it did take some additional care in controlling clover. That was the one battle this late summer- but it may have been the odd weather of a very cool August.
