I understand a few wood chips as "organic matter" but this is ridiculous. 4 Bags, of wood chips with some dirt in between. I had to load back up and return. Awful waste of time and energy.

Disgusting hunks of moldy wood are loosely bound together by what must have been clippings from a lawn care place as it was full of pieces of weed eater string and other random bits of garbage. This stuff literally wiped out a whole crop of my cuttings, not even one made it.

Horrible

Ruined my tomatoes. Oh, they grew like crazy and had a ton of fruit. But as the tomatoes started to turn red EVERY ONE had blossom rot due to an inadequacy of minerals in the soil. Oh and this company claims they back their product. This is only true if you keep the receipt and UPC code from the bag. I naturally trusted what I was buying…with a photo of flowers and vegetables…including a tomato on the bag was formulated correctly. I tossed the bags. Long before the plants started to product tomatoes. This is what the company had to say so do t use it in a raised garden! “ Miracle-Gro All Purpose Garden Soil is designed for in-ground use only. It is not formulated for use in containers, even large containers such as your watering trough. Soil in containers does not benefit from the natural processes of environmental interaction, such as natural fertilization. Soil in containers is also prone to compacting, which is why our Potting Mixes use a blend of mediums that are designed to maintain soil aeration even when water has been applied. We do not recommend Miracle-Gro All Purpose Garden Soil for use in containers. We want you to be confident in our products. For that reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Simply mail either the original itemized cash register receipt or the UPC barcode removed from each product packaging to the address below and I will promptly issue a refund check. Emailed proofs of purchase do not qualify as originals.”

We are sorry to hear about your experience. I have used this product for many years and have always been very pleased with the results. This year, as always, I bought 10 bags to augment and freshen my garden. What are you thinking??? Every bag was mostly semi ground up sticks and bark. This was more like mulch and no stretch of the imagination would call it soil. No water retention at ALL.

It's Not Really Soil

MicroGuy - 11 months ago

To me, soil is dirt; the stuff you dig around in when you plant something. This MiracleGro Garden soil is mainly: peat, processes forest products, coir [actually processes coconut fiber], and/or compost, and sphagnum moss. That's not soil in my book. I put two hands full in a pail and added water--about 90% of this junk floats. Soil doesn't. Put this stuff around plants and when you water them, this "soil" floats away. Do not buy

Danger: Miracle grow garden soil moisture control

I purchased miracle grow garden soil for vegetables and herbs, moisture control. As another reviewer mentioned, one of the five bags I purchased had white mold in the soil. However, the big issue is that all of the bags I purchased contained twists of plastic, rocks, and shards of glass. I was using my hands to shovel this dirt into a pot and could’ve ended up in the hospital.

I am so bery disappointed to see all the sand you are adding to the bags of dirt! Is this to add weight to make a few more buck or are you thinking this could be possibly good! As veggies do not like dirt as it does not retain water in a hot state that already has enough sand!

Been using Miracle-Gro-All Purpose Garden Soil for years! The last few years the product has gone downhill. This year it is the worst product yet! Today I opened a bag and it was compost. I Iwas hard pressed to find any soil in it. It was almost the condensate of mulch. We decided to discontinue the product. I can make my own compost!

Great Soil to Use

I've been using Scott's and Miracle-Gro soil after the February freeze in 2021. My ixora garden and golden dewdrop hedge died as well as my ivy garden. I never did use soil or lawn fertilizer on my yard but I decided to give it a try. Am I amazed with all the results of Scott's and Miracle-Gro soil. I'm an avid lawn master now. I maintain my own yard when I relied on a gardener. The soil is good for the ground, it is a thick and rich mound of good food for the plants. I mix it with bone meal and a dash of miracle-gro blue pellet food every three to four months.
