I purchased this product for the first time recently to use with some new plantings. I opened the bag to find large chunks of mulch, large sections of black and white plastic and large rocks. The bag had very little usable soil and the quality was not up to the MiracleGro standard that I have come to rely upon. I would not recommend purchasing this product.
I bought 8 bags of the soil and put it in my garden. As I spread it - I found a lot of plastic bag pieces, a lego, sharp plastic shards from who knows what, tin foil, bit of wrappers, wire, and a even an electrical connector to a circuit board.... I’ve only picked through the first square foot. I don’t know what to do - keep picking or dig it back up.... it’s a rotten dilemma. I would NEVER recommend this garden soil. It’s “garbage,” literally.
Dear Miracle Grow I accidentally bought garden soil to use in my huge flower pots. I have them all planted and in the last pit I realized I used the wrong soil. Can you help me with knowing what I should do without dumping and buying more.
Purchase many bags of the top soil every year, 50 bags of the .75 and approx. 20 of the 2.0. Miracle grow soils were always top shelf. This year has been a disaster! .75 bags were huge hunks that needed a rubber mallet, plus the foreign debris such as wire and branches. The 2.0 Soil bags were not soil but FINE SHREDDED MULCH! Have had conversations with Miracle Grow offices in Marysville, OH. Pictures have been forwarded to the Corporate Office.
we bought 110 bags of this soil to fill 7 raised beds and at first this soil looked great. after a day or so and once i started to work in the soil, i have found TONS of trash- trash, plastic, metal, rubber, glass... you name it. my kinds have been raking and pulling out bags of trash out of our beds. i am so upset. we are using this for vegetables and i am NOT happy with the quality. on top of it, it is full of mulch and wood as well. the trash though is absolutely disgusting and not ok.
We bought this product last year to add to our established garden beds and to mix with our yard to patch and seed some holes in the yard that our dogs dug. Established beds sprouted more pig weed than we have ever had, even amongst the grass patches. There was some type of ground cover in there as every where we used it we have been pulling up a small leafed tall white flower weeds. Also what manure was in there? As our dogs rolled in it and thought it was great to eat. We used 8 of the 10 bags we bought in various places in our yard. The last two held back to use in the fall. It didn’t get used. Just checked the bag to make sure it matched this product, out of those little holes on the sides that your bags have there is a tan substance that has dried up. What? Dirt shouldn’t ooze, and bubble like this did.
