Ben & Jerry's Cherry ice cream with cherries and fudge flakes. It's our tribute to guitarist Jerry Garcia and his fans everywhere, and it all started with a piece of fan mail.
You see, back in the day, before smartphones and social media, our fans spoke to us via handwritten notes pinned to the bulletin boards at our Scoop Shops. It was sometime in 1986 when one such fan was persistent enough to mail a postcard to our main office in Burlington, Vermont. Super premium ice cream meets great guitar solos? It was genius, and Ben immediately began creating the iconic concoction.
Cherry Garcia debuted in 1987 and quickly became one of our top three most popular flavors. In fact, the first eight ice cream pints went straight to Mr. Garcia himself and were met with two thumbs up. As for the fan who sent the anonymous postcard? Our sleuths found her and thanked her with a trip to Vermont and a year's supply of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
It's been a long, strange trip ever since, but what remains is Ben & Jerry's commitment to producing the world's best frozen desserts in the most responsible way possible. Like all of our flavors, Cherry Garcia is made with non GMO sourced ingredients, cage free eggs, and Fairtrade certified cocoa, sugar, and vanilla. Responsibly sourced packaging gets the goodness from our Vermont factory to your freezer.

    Cherry Garcia is such a delicious flavor! The creamy cherry ice cream is packed with juicy cherry pieces and rich chocolate flakes.     It used to be 5+ stars. The best ice cream I have ever tasted. Now they have ruined it. The base flavor is plain, and there are a lot less chocolate chunks and cherries. They pulled back and made it MUCH Cheaper. No longer worth the splurge.

    Scratches the Cherry Ice Cream Itch

    Big fan of Cherry Ice cream and have been looking for a store flavor I can rely on. The cherry flavor isn’t too overwhelming and I can’t tell if I wanted more of a cherry flavor in the ice cream itself or more cherry but it felt like it was lacking a little for me personally. The fudge chips are delightful and pair nicely with the cherry. Texture is a little on the firm side but nothing crazy. This will scratch the cherry itch if I have it. I still will try other brands to see if I can find what I’m searching for.

    Best Ice Cream EVER

    It is very creamy unlike the other watered down ice creams on the market. Has a good amount of cherries that always hit just right in flavor. The pieces of dark chocolate bring it altogether. Melts quickly so if you like a solid ice cream serve straight away. I like mine melty; I leave it out 3-5 mins before serving.

    Full of stuff, they’re not stingy!

    So delicious. The ice cream is good quality and the mix ins are large, and plentiful. This product is in a small container, so it is perfect for the freezer top shelf. It smells like home to me, and as long as it’s good and frozen, it doesn’t melt fast at all.

    First tasted Cherry Garcia ice cream on vacation as a teen in Boston.

    I like how thick and solid it is. It is very creamy and you can tell by tasting it, that it is natural. I like the cherries, they are the best cherries I have ever had; they should jar and sell them.

    Flavor is incredible

    Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is ALWAYS incredible. I have been eating the Cherry Garcia flavor since I was a kid in the early 2000s, it’s the first flavor I remember ever trying. It’s a classic cherry taste with real cherry chunks. Amazing!

    This is likely the best ice cream flavor I've ever had. I love cherries and chocolate, and this is THE one. If you're craving chocolate- covered cherries but don't want to wait until Christmas, here you go. You can see the redness of the cherries in that rich vanilla ice cream, with the chocolate right there mixed in. A pint might not be enough, fair warning!

    Great flavor

    It was great but not a lot of stuff in it. But the cherry flavor is great without being overpowering! The process are not too big which makes it a nice ratio to ice cream.
