Gourmet Garden Basil Stir-In Paste - 4oz

I love that I can have fresh basil favor in the cold, dark winter without having to grow it inside myself. I'm excited to try it in a marinade next!

It has a fresh flavor that didn't make us miss the fresh basil that we usually use when making this. The container is easy to squeeze out the perfect amount. Will be using this in the future for any appetizers and salads that would normally call for fresh basil leaves.

I suppose the product is what it is. But I don't think I'd buy it again...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would much rather buy a stir-in paste from Gourmet Garden than get a bunch of fresh herbs, which sounds counterintuitive, but let me explain. In terms of basil, my options are very limited if I want fresh. I can buy a complete plant in a pot, or I can buy a small plastic container of a small handful of fresh leaves. The small plastic containers are never enough to my liking, so I always end up buying a few of them. The extras remain in my fridge until they get slimy and moldy, and I throw them away. It doesn't help at all that the plastic packages are very expensive. With the paste in a tube, I can use as little or as much as I want and keep the rest in the fridge for much longer. That is absolutely more economical, and I also find the flavor is more pronounced. I definitely recommend this product over fresh if you are tired of spending so much money and only using a portion of what you purchase.

Gourmet garden is a perfect alternative to fresh basil with same great flavor with longer shelf life. Highly recommend this for your chicken, pasta dishes and goes perfectly with toast and mozzarella cheese.

My only complaint is that it contains dextrose and canola oil, neither of which are great ingredients.
