Q: Does this unit have a compressor or do I need to freeze a bowl?

submitted by Java - 7 years ago
  • A: The freezer bowl must be completely frozen before you begin your recipe. For the most convenient frozen desserts, leave your freezer bowl in the freezer at all times. You can take it out any time for immediate use. In general, freezing time is between 12 hours and 24 hours

Cool Creations 2 Quart Ice Cream Maker

Great little machine. Ice cream is quite delicious. Wish it came with a recipe book which is why I only gave it 4 stars. I had to search online for recipes for this particular machine.

    My new ice cream friend

I am so impressed with this machine. I have been wanting one for about 3 years. And now It's living on my kitchen counter I don't even get a chance to put it away cause I use it a few times a week. I will definitely replace it with another one when I wear this one out. Hopefully, it will be on sale when that time comes.

Best Ice Cream Maker — Ever

I never thought making ice cream could be so easy. I don’t like refined sugar so I found a recipe in the recipe book that comes with the machine which used agave nectar. I substituted honey and OMG the most delicious, creamy ice cream that I’ve ever had. This machine can also make gelato and sorbet. But the best part about it is that it’s super easy. Mix the ingredients, refrigerate and pour into the machine then just wait until it’s finished. This isn’t the only appliance I have from Cusinart. I’ve been a fan for years and it’s the first brand I go to when I need an appliance. You will not be disappointed with this ice cream maker. Easy, clear instructions and the ice cream mis delicious. Can’t wait to make the gelato and sorbet.

    Fresh Homemade Ice Cream!

I purchased the Cuisinart Cool Creations 2 quart ice cream maker based on the wonderful reviews, and for the most part we are quite happy with the purchase. The machine seems well constructed, although I do wish the churning paddle was made of metal instead of plastic for extra stability and longevity. The unit is easy to use, but you must follow the directions exactly regarding how long to freeze the bowl before use to get the best results. Additionally, we are struggling a bit to produce a product that is consistently smooth and creamy rather than grainy and icy, but I'm not sure if that result is because of the machine or the recipes we have tried.

Healthy, good for you homemade ice cream.

This is the best ice cream machine I have ever seen or heard of. It is so easy to use. Just mix up your ingredients and pour into the frozen tub. In no time at all, like 20-30 minutes, the ice cream is ready. It is fun for the whole family. The best part of all is that you know exactly what ingredients are in it.. Now we can make much healthier ice cream than we can buy in the stores. Read the labels and you will agree.

    Quality machine

I've only had the ice cream maker for a few weeks but have used it extensively with many recipes and so far everything has worked great. I received it quickly, easy setup, easy operation, and so far no issues. Even ordered a second freezer bowl to use it more often.

    Cool Creations Ice Cream Maker

I researched ice cream makers for a solid month before deciding on the Cool Creations Ice Cream Maker. I purchased this one for a few key reasons, I am a Cuisinart user and owner and I know that Cuisinart produces the highest quality products. Cool Creations is no different. Everyone search I conducted looking for top quality ice creams makers, Cool Creations was on the list. Lastly, I love the sleek design, it is compact and fits on my counter quite nicely. Cool Creations is easy to use. The digital display allows me to set it and forget it. Once the operation is done, I get a an alert and the best part, if I miss the alert the machine continues to cool my cream for 30 additional minutes. But what I really love is the final product, the base churns to a nice soft serve creamy consistency (think Wendy's Frosty) that is ready to enjoy right out of the container. Yes, I have done this more times than I will admit. The one thing that I would improve here is, during the churning process the machine is very loud, which can get a bit bothersome after 10 minutes or so. However, the end product outweighs the noise level for me.

    I don't like this machine

It takes 36-48 hours for the bowl to freeze and it didn't even make ice cream. It was a cold, sloppy mess. I returned this product because it took way too long to make a subpar product.
1 reply from Cuisinart team - 3 months ago
We’re sorry to hear your experience with your ice cream maker didn’t meet expectations and understand your frustration. For best results, we suggest allowing the bowl to completely defrost, then shaking it and freezing it for 24–48 hours before use to ensure proper churning. We’re happy to know you were able to return the unit hassle-free.

    Pretty good machine

Make sure to freeze the bowl before pouring your mixture. If you don’t, your mixture will never freeze. If you follow the instructions correctly, your ice cream freezes pretty fast.

    Superb machine

My grandkids love the idea of making ice cream. I love it that I can control what GREAT ingredients go into every batch. You can make up to 1/2 gallon at a time. I have made strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and orange sorbet so far. And make one batch a day as it takes that long to re-freeze the insert. Every batch has been outstanding in taste because of GREAT ingredients and a superb machine to do the job. I could make ice cream every day.

    Ice Cream Maker

Not good quality. I expected a much better, creamier ice cream. After the 30 minute mixing cycle was completed, it still needed to be placed in the freezer overnight. Unfortunately, it turned into ice crystals and became more like a snow cone. I added heavy cream and stirred it until it became creamier. It tasted ok but it is not a product that I want to spend more time and money on. I should have spent more $$ on a better ice cream maker. I do not recommend this product.
1 reply from Cuisinart team - 4 months ago
We’re sorry to hear that the ICE-70P1 didn’t meet your expectations and appreciate your detailed feedback. For creamier results, we recommend pre-freezing the bowl for a full 24 hours, chilling the base thoroughly before churning, and adding mix-ins only at the end; some recipes also benefit from a higher fat content or a brief hardening period after churning. Your comments regarding texture and overall performance will be shared with our product team. If you’d like additional tips or assistance, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190 and reference Ticket #8900514271

Cool Creations™ 2 Quart Ice Cream Maker

I love this machine it makes terrific ice cream especially if you like soft serve, it's perfect for that. The only thing I wish was different was the paddle mixing the ice cream. I wish it was easier to get the ice cream off of it, even with using my smaller spatula, it's extremely difficult. I don't want to waste any of it and it's almost impossible not to with the paddle they have now.
