Q: Why is my ice cream texture like soup even after 30+ minutes of having it on? Left the bowl in the freezer overnight and we have tried it twice and both times the texture is runny like soup.

submitted by Kiki - 4 months ago
  • A: What ingredients are you using? You have to use heavy cream. You can't use regular milk or almond milk. It's not thick enough. That's why its not thick, if that's what you're using.

Q: Has anyone tried making non-dairy ice cream with this?

submitted by Great curtains - 6 months ago
  • A: Yes. I have to use regular canned coconut milk because it's thick & the ice cream will get thick.

submitted byGoochie - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello, Yes, you are able to make non dairy ice cream in the ICE-21P1.

Q: Can you freeze the paddle along with the bowl before making ice cream?

submitted by Ksb - 8 months ago
  • A: We don’t recommend freezing the paddle and don’t think it will make a noticeable difference in forming the final ice cream.

submitted byMarcus - 7 months ago

Q: Does unit need rock salt to process ice cream ?

submitted by Miss M - 9 months ago
  • A: No this does not require rock salt and makes exceptional ice cream.

submitted byMarcus - 9 months ago

Q: The ice cream is very good, however, it sticks to the paddles and makes it hard to get off. Any ideas or suggestions?

submitted by Kathy - 10 months ago
  • A: It is best to remove the paddle from the bowl before putting the soft ice cream in the freezer to firm it up. A spoon or spatula can be used to wipe the paddle.

I love my new Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker! I have made several batches of wonderful, homemade ice cream since we got it last month, trying different recipes. I am looking forward to experimenting with more flavors. I sometimes wonder if I should have gotten the larger model, but this model still makes about the equivalent of a carton of ice cream.

This was my second purchase of the Cuisinart ice cream & sorbet maker. I bought another one because it was on sale and I wanted an extra tub so I can make more without waiting for the tub to chill. My first one is now 5 years old and I've been using it twice weekly and it still works fine. It makes wonderful sorbet and without the hassle of having to stir it every half hour. I've also experimented with my own recipe for frozen low fat ice cream using added gums and 2% milk I've come up with a tasty chocolate ice milk that tastes like ice cream. I like the fact that I can control the ingredients. No corn syrup, etc. One hint I'd like to share is when you go to place the bowl in the freezer, make sure it is thoroughly dry and then place a piece of plastic wrap over the top and down the sides about 2 inches. This will prevent any frost from forming around the bowl which can happen if your freezer is constantly being opened. The only negative thing I've found is the ice cream is too soft to eat right away and needs to be chilled all day especially if your kitchen was warm when you made it. So I will usually place a small amount in a dish and set it on an ice cube tray if I want some more quickly.

It is sleek and quiet—and I could not contain my excitement. I was ready to make dessert! But my skills in the kitchen are limited. My first run, I managed a thick soup. So I need to tinker and such, but not so excited and life happens. Machine is fine, needs more info on how to get great results.

I bought this product mainly to make sorbet, but it also makes good ice cream and frozen yogurt. I don't like having to go online to search for directions and recipes. I like the Cuisinart brand and will purchase this before any other brand

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far this has been wonderful. I replaced it with another brand that broke after 1.5 years. This is great because you can have ice cream in 30 minutes or make it and stick it in the freezer for later. We prefer the more frozen version. Easy to put in add-ins with the large, open top. Reasonably priced.

“You can mix all the ingredients in a blender, pour them into molds, and put them in the freezer—it turns out the same as using an ice cream maker. I didn’t notice any difference in the consistency or taste of the ice cream made with the machine.”

Best Ice cream maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought this icecream maker because Cuisinart products are very reliable. Out of the box the icecream maker is compact enough to stay on the counter or fit in a cupboard. I followed the instructions to make strawberry ice cream, first freezing the bowl overnight, then putting the ingredients together the next day. I can tell you, this is by far the best ice cream I’ve ever had!! I will never buy store bought again. The price is reasonable and worth every penny.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I only used it twice so far. The first time I overchurned it and it was icy. The second time was much better. The instructions do say to churn for 15 - 20 minutes, but they should explain why. Also the sides get very icy and it is not easy to remove all the ice cream. It is very easy to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was sent to me by my daughter unexpectedly, and I seriously thought it would be another gadget that sits in the back of my cabinet. Well, I was wrong! First of all, I love ice cream, slushes, anything that can cool me down in the summer. So I decided to try it. I used sweet coconut cream (less is better due to the high fat content), a tad of vanilla and an 82 percent dark chocolate bar sliced (1/2 bar used). I did not put any sweet or unsweetened shredded coconut in it but that is my plan in the future. I also made fresh peach, blueberry and ginger lemon ice cream. I have the room to keep the container frozen at all times. Slushes are next!

How did we live without this?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this machine! We have had a very large, very traditional (add ice and salt) ice cream machine for years. But it took planning to make ice cream and it was messy. We were visiting a friend recently who had the Ice-21 and it was so easy and so good! We bought one immediately. It’s a simple machine, easy to use and the results are great. So far we have made peach, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla and now have ice cream on hand all the time for a quick dessert. We just keep the insert in the freezer when we aren’t using it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Summer in our household isn’t summer until you hand crank some ice cream. This year my kids requested to try to make a few different versions of frozen yogurt and it just seemed right to have an automatic frozen yogurt maker. The kids are loving it, it’s so much easer and less mess than the hand crank. The kids dream up different recipes for me to try and we give it a whirl (with in reason 😁).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this ice cream maker based on reviews from a couple different sites, and they were right. It's much easier to use than the ice cream attachment for my KitchenAid mixer, and it produces perfect, smooth results.
