Constructed with thick and durable polyethylene resin which holds up to the harshest elements, the exterior has the appearance of a classic colonial planter. The strong, regal lines and trim on the exterior make it an attractive accent piece on your home's exterior.
With a flat-back design, space is optimized on your patio, deck, or backyard landscape, allowing you to position the barrel close to walls or flat areas. The top is a 1-cubic-foot (7-gallon) planter with an integrated channel that diverts overflowing water to the front and away from the back of the barrel and your home's foundation, so you can have peace of mind during heavy rainstorms or when your plants need excess watering. 2 brass spigots are included with offset spigot locations, providing multiple options for a hose hookup or easily filling up a 5-gallon bucket or watering can.

Q: Can you switch the downspout from one side to the other? I need to access the spigot on the front side, but the downspout would need to be on the opposite side.

A: the downspout is made to be on the back side of the rain barrel above the screen. the spigot is made to be in the front side of the barrel. If you needed to switch sides then you would be responsible for drilling the new hole.

Q: Is there a downspout diverter kit that comes with it? Or how is the rain collected? I couldn't tell from the photos or descriptions.

A: Thank you for the question! This item actually doesn't connect to a downspout, it passively collects rainwater through the planter in the top!

I was super pleased with how well it was made and how durable it has been being outside exposed to the elements. My favorite part is that you can hide your garden hose in it so it's not unsightly anymore. I really like the idea of the planter bed being on top. You can just use this for so many different things.

I understand the concept behind it and it’s good if you want it for just catching water, but I would rather use something else that’s a little more discreet. Not my favorite thing, but maybe you might like it

Bulges really badly when filled with water
This looks so nice when it comes out of the box. I bought it for my mom for Christmas last year, and helped her set it up this summer. We got the gutter sections and a gutter valve and it all came together nicely. We put the plants on top and we were all like, "wow, this looks awesome!" Then it rained and filled up with water. Within a couple days the whole things started to bulge throughout the middle and lower portions. And not just a little bugle, it looks like the stay-puff marshmallow man! So I give it two stars because the concept is good and the planter portion works fine, but I would NOT buy this again. Such a bummer.
