A: Hi Elsie, the top rail height is 12.5". The entire unit height is 63". The lower bunk weight limit is 450 lbs. and the upper bunk weight limit is 200 lbs. Use only a twin mattress which is 74" - 75" long and 37 1/2" - 38 1/2" wide on the upper bunk and a full mattress which is 74" - 75" long and 53" - 54" wide on the lower bunk. Ensure thickness of mattress on upper bunk is greater than 4" and that it does not exceed 6".
