I was looking for a bunk bed for my 7-year-old, and wanted something with a high weight limit per bunk, and sturdy. The listing suggests the weight limit is 400 pounds, however, that is total and thus only 200 pounds per bunk. It was my mistake not to check the measurements but the top bunk is very close to the bottom bunk, making it hard for an adult to lay down and then get up and out of it, if your child is a cuddler like mine! My child will also outgrow it quickly due to this (hence the suggested age being 3-10). Otherwise the frame is sturdy and the top bunk frame makes a fun spot to drape a blanket over for a fort. Ladder is sturdy and I (adult) can climb up and down with no problem. Assembly for the bunk bed was as expected, took me about 6-7 hours total, across a weekend, to assemble on my own. This would be great for a preschooler, but wouldn't be a bed to last them through their teen years. In hindsight, I would have purchased a traditional - sized bunk given the weight limits are the same as this bunk bed but proportions are better.
