A: It is strange that you mention American Maid. I've used their 5 gallon bottles with this unit.

A: I just put my empty bottle into the empty dispenser, and yes, the bottle neck seems to go down far enough that it would sit in the water, at least until the water level goes down :(

A: Hi - Great question! No, the top of the bottle is not exposed to the flowing water once placed into your dispenser.

A: We recommend cleaning this unit twice a year using a soft damp cloth with dish washing soap.

A: Thank you for reaching out. The ceramic container will be filled with water from the bottle. There will be around 1.5L in the crock while the bottle is on the dispenser. It will not fill to capacity because air is needed for the water to flow out properly.
