The only tool required is a hex wrench, which they thoughtfully included. The chair has a soft, velvety covering, and the gold-tone metal pieces give it a nice chic look. But there is only a minimum of padding. If you just need a chair to occasionally pay bills or do a little online shopping or whatever, this is a good choice because it still looks elegant when not in use. But if you do a lot of work from home and need a chair that will provide hours of comfort, best look elsewhere. Also be sure to note weight limit. Though it looks somewhat delicate, it seems sturdy enough but I wouldn't recommend going over the weight limit.
