Doesn't function with a wall fan control switch

Looks nice, but in the end we couldn't use it. #1, we wanted to use a wall switch to control it-- but it wouldn't turn on with it. The switch we bought was specifically to control ceiling fans, but I assume it functions similar to a dimmer switch. #2 the start up of the fan was not smooth, it jerked through the first rotation before smoothing out. Reminded me of a manual propeller start. #3 it has an audible electronic hum--very annoying. #4 it was locked up out of the box, I had to dismantle it until it freed up. #5 every control is a beep, very annoying.
