Q: We assembled our bassinet and it seems really wobbly? Makes me really nervous to put my newborn once hes here in it.

submitted by Rachael G - 1 year ago
  • A: Due to the 360 degree rotation and swivel motion of the HALO BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper there is some give or play to the sleep area. The BassiNest® has been thoroughly tested for safety and it does appear your unit is well within the standards for our products. If concerned about the movement, the BassiNest® is most stable with the sleep area centered over the base post. Once the baby is placed in the BassiNest® this will help stabilize the sleeping area. If you are still concerned about the safety, we are more than happy to further review with you.

Summary of reviews

The Halo Bassinet is praised for its easy assembly, sturdy build, and adjustable height. The 360° swivel and side lowering feature are appreciated for ease of access to the baby, especially for postpartum mothers. The detachable bassinet is also a plus for portability. However, guests noted issues with the bassinet not being level, causing the baby to slide to one side, and the bulky base that doesn't fit under low bed frames and is a tripping hazard. The mattress was also reported to be thin and uncomfortable.

Amazing for Unexpected C-Section Recovery

5 out of 5 stars

Hannah - 9 days ago, Verified purchaser
After an unexpected C-section, it was difficult for me to get in an out of our tall bed to get our newborn out of the bassinet we had. We purchased this the day we got home from the hospital to be able to get baby in and out without leaving bed, and it’s been a lifesaver! Love being able to see him right from bed since he’s next to me and easily get him in and out with the lowering side.

Cozy Sleep

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love our bedside bassinet from Halo. It gives us such peace of mind to have our little one close without him being in an unsafe environment. We have found that for our family, it's easy and convenient to move the basket out of our bedroom and into other parts of the house during the day so we have a safe place to lay baby down. This sleeper is hands down the best value for your money.

Safety issue

mrsmantequilla - 1 month ago, Verified purchaser
Hated it. No locking mechanism on the swivel option. Which is dumb. Big problem is the legs is also a trip hazard - the legs are so much more wider than the actual bassinet top. We’ve tripped on it so many times. Our room isn’t tight at all - it’s just poorly designed. I bought this from the closest Target store which is about 2hrs away from where I live - and now I’m approaching almost a week out from my due date and they do not give you an option to return in mail even though product has a safety issue. Such a bummer.

Improvemmts need to be made

3 out of 5 stars
Pharmgirl - 2 months ago
I think the idea of this is good but the product needs to be improved. The bassinet itself is not level and tilts to one side making it easier for the baby to turn to the side that’s tilted down, the base is way too bulky and takes up too much room (I’ve tripped over it multiple times), the sound feature only has 2 noise levels which is weird, the light feature doesn’t really help at all because you still can’t see anything with it on. Also, the feature that allows you to move the bassinet in a circle (not the rotating feature) is extremely hard to maneuver. I do like that it is mesh all around, I like the firm mattress and how tall it is because I haven’t been able to find any other tall bassinets. All the rest are right at the height of the bed and my husband can’t see the baby because they’re too low, This one he can see from the other side of the bed. This bassinet would be good if these improvements were made.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The item is great quality. But the base is so large and chunky. It doesn’t get close enough to the bed for the lock/unlock bar to be useful. I’ve also tripped on the legs almost every day, which can be a safety concern while carrying a newborn. Would not recommend. Wish I could return.

LOVE this bassinet! I was originally using the graco pack and play for my son but the mesh didn’t give great visibility. It was also more work to check on my son when he would make noise / drop his pacifier because I would have to sit up or partially sit up. This bassinet was a game changer! The mesh allows me to see my son easily and the adjustable height is just what I needed! I have him right next to me and it makes me feel safe to be able to simply open my eyes to check on him or simply reach my arm over to get his pacifier. I don’t like to spend money on items that are only used for a limited amount of time but this one is worth it! It’s worth it for your peace of mind and sleep! Also, I HAVE A VELCO BABY and this worked fantastic! He fell asleep the first time we laid him down in it, he was so comfortable!

Meh

Justatargetmom - 3 months ago
It’s good at first especially if you have a c section but after a few weeks I felt like it was getting flimsy and if stopped locking. You have to have hardwood to make sure it stays level. My newborn never rolled on it or anything and it’s not necessarily big like other reviews mention, it’s that the legs are so spread out that it takes up a lot of foot space and it’s easy to bump into it. The right idea is there but the execution not so much. The pad is also super hard my baby slept better in her crib than on this so I eventually just put her crib next to my bed.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. The base is so bulky and long. You will trip over the legs, and also have a hard time moving the bassinet to a different location if needed. The swivel mechanics is not easy. Save your money and buy a different bassinet. If you want your baby sleeping on cardboard junk then this is the one for you.

Put an End to Our Sleepless Nights

5 out of 5 stars

Hilary - 6 months ago, Verified purchaser
We originally purchased the Newton bassinet, which is almost double the price, and our baby stopped sleeping in it after 10 days. He wouldn’t sleep for more than 25 minutes and would only sleep in my arms. After a couple of weeks of sleepless nights, I purchased this bassinet out of desperation. I was hoping he’d sleep better being close to me. It worked like a charm! Baby has been sleeping in his bassinet no problem each night since we purchased. I love that I can lay next to him and hear/see him all night. The swivel works great and the fold-down side makes taking baby out for middle of the night feedings and diaper changes so much easier. Materials are nice quality and mesh siding is soft (honestly, nicer than the Newton). I highly recommend! We’ll be keeping this bassinet for our next baby and donate the other.

Doesn's swivel as imagined

3 out of 5 stars
karlie - 8 months ago, Verified purchaser
This bassinet is sleek and easy to put together, and the height adjust and portable bassinet are nice touches. But the “swivel over the bed” aspect of it doesn’t really work as advertised since it swivels from the middle and not one end. The bassinet just kind of swivels side to side and doesn’t bring baby any closer to you (our bed does have the minimum recommended clearance from floor to frame as Halo has responded to some other comments). The collapsible side seems easy enough as long as you use both arms to push it down while reaching in.
