Q: how high is the top step

A: There is no way the top step is 41, as that is the height of the entire ladder.

A: Hello Mj, the included lock is only for the top-most rung/step. Otherwise this ladder simply closes tight.

A: You can, however, caution is advised as you loose the support of railings to hold onto. Total floor to top of ladder frame is 41", spacing between rungs is 9.5in and 8" deep.

Easy to Fold and Seems Sturdy
I don't really like big ladders, but having cabinets and shelves that are too high, I needed one. I find this to be lighter and smaller when folded than another option. Plus it is easy to fold and store and seems sturdy. I just wish it's not white as that can get dirty easily. Still the best option I've found of a three step ladder.

Step ladder
Well made and sturdy. I am 65 and have been wanting to purchase a home indoor step ladder for sometime. This fits the bill. I would say it is medium weight but I am still able to lift and use it with no problems. I would recommend this ladder to everyone.

Love it!!! I closes easily which was a problem I had with my last 2 step ladder so I left it open. I don't have to do that with this one!!
