I bought 2 of these lamps to mount on each side of our 2-car garage. We are having the house painted first, so I have not installed them yet. They arrived very quickly and despite some damage to the exterior of the shipping boxes, the lamps were in good shape because of the protective interior packing. Following the installation instructions, I attempted to disassemble the lamps to install the bulbs. This is where I ran into the same problem with both lamps. When I went to remove the finial (J) from the bottom of the threaded shaft, I found that it had either been over tightened or cross threaded. What happened instead was that the threaded shaft began to unscrew at the top where it attached to the base holding the lamp sockets. I ended up having to remove the entire bottom, 4-legged lamp frame (4 phillips screws) to work on it and not risk breaking the glass. I carefully wrapped the finial in several layers of soft cloth to protect the finish and clamped it in a vice. I then was able to use a pair of pliers on the threaded shaft to break it free from the finial. Unfortunately, even wrapping the threaded shaft in more cloth did not prevent the finish from being damaged. I eventually was able to get everything back together so that now I can unscrew the finial by hand and the nut (K) with light torque using an open end wrench. The finial and shaft threads have some minor damage but I cleaned the burrs out of them with a wire brush and applied a small amount of grease.
