It can be used vertically or horizontal which is handy and gives you options of how you want to install it. I have mine horizontal on a stone about 2 inches off of the pond floor. It runs very quietly and feels like it is built durable to last many years. I feel that this is a very good value considering it's versatility, durability and price point.

I am happy to say that the pump is also much quieter than other pumps that I have used. I really appreciate that Alpine has used a ceramic shaft in this pump. This is a really high quality pump. I am very impressed with the power. The 3100 gallons per hour that this pump puts out is really amazing and wonderful. I highly recommend this pump because it is easy to install, works great and is easy to maintain. This pump is a great addition to any pond. It provides me with great enjoyment and relaxation.

We were able to get it up and running in no time. It adds a pretty display, therapeutic atmosphere, and will help our fish survive the cool winter by keeping the water flowing. The 3100 GPH is plenty of water power for circulating the water and we really like that the water pump can go in the water OR outside the water, while working the same. The sound the water makes, draws the birds to it, because of the alpine pump.
