Very dissatisfied - rusted and is not usable

Bought this item and it rusted completely within the first year of use. We never left in the weather and cared for the product as we do all of our things. For us to use the item, it can only be used with a pan, so no longer usable for grilling or searing. When we reached out to camp chef for help as the item was within warranty when it began to fall apart and they informed us that due to use with high heat that the warranty is void. I am unsure how for use as a bbq for searing etc which is done at a high temp how the product is not made for that. But that is what we were told. It is very disconcerting when a company does not stand by their product that they market to be used for cooking but then say that it can't withstand high heat.

I use the 3 burner stove for both church and camping for large groups. Why does not Camp Chief have a 16" version Grill Box for 3 burners. My only option is to use the 14" two burner version on my 16" 3 burner unit.
Must have for high temp searing

I have owned the deluxe grill box for 4 years. It is great. It is perfect for searing steaks. Side note if throw some wood pellets under the grates, you can get some great smoke flavor.
Could be built to last longer

Would be worth paying a little more for greater longevity. We use the grill primarily to roast oysters and after 2 years, the bottom of the grill box started rusting out. The grated tops are also less than ideal at this point. It's still "usable" but I feel like it's a tetanus shot waiting to happen from the rust. Would be worth paying a little extra to have a better quality box to withstand more usage.
Love this grill box on my Big Gas Grill

We have had our Big Gas Grill for 3 years now and bought the BBQ grill box at the same time. We use it almost everyday or at the least 4-5 times a week. Was wondering if there is a replacement diffuser plate that we could order to replace the one in our grill box as it is starting to show its age.
Great build quality, poor design

Seems well built of good materials that gets the 3 stars. On my initial cook I can see the huge flaw built in this grill box, there is nowhere for the grease to go but on your burners and into the bottom liner of the pro 90 which is not only a nightmare for cleaning but a huge safety hazard! I cooked 2 steaks at low heat and halfway through the cook had a grease fire going. Fortunately I am always minding the grill. This design flaw is a huge disappointment for the build quality and the brand.

I’ve been using this grill for 3 years now and have had a mostly positive experience. The cast iron grates oven rust over the winter. My main issue is with grease drippings. If grilling something with a lot of fat like burgers made with regular or medium ground beef, the dripping do not vaporize. I have had to deal with quite large flames on many occasions.

Great add on for my Camp Chef 3 burner. This is the second one I have purchased as I wore out the old one. I purchase the one burner griddle to go along with it. I have had my other one for more than ten years and love it for grilling. The addition of the griddle will make it more complete cooking system for BBQs and Camping.
Great till the lid starts rusting on the inside.

May be my own mistake but a pop up shower came the day my grill and accessories arrived and I had set everything up on patio. Inside top of grill box was rusted before 1st use. Tried to see if I could buy a replacement lid but have had no success. Have had 3 cooks, all thick ribeye and corn and all have been great. I am happy I purchased my stove and everything else. My recommendation is "BUY".

Purchased this with the 3 burner stove as a package. Dispite our best attempts , the grills rusted and now at the start of our 3rd season it’s unuseable due to rusting.

Hi RLott2k, We recommend to not use the BBQ boxes, and any accessory, over a setting higher than medium on our stoves, due to the high BTU's. If used over a higher setting than medium, it can shorten the life of the bottom of the BBW boxes. As for the cast iron cooking grates, depending on the environment/location you live in, as well as the foods cooked on them, can have an effect on anything made from steel/iron, causing rust if not maintained correctly. If there is rust, this is an easy fix. Though there are many methods for cleaning rust off the iron, the one that we have found to be the easiest to use is a can of cola. Depending on how rusty it is will depend on how long you will need to leave the cola on the rusty spots. You will want to use a sponge to apply the cola to dissolve the rust. After the rust is removed be sure to wash and re-season the grates with either our Cast Iron Conditioner or a high grade cooking oil.

I was barbecuing chicken quarters and the grease drip through the barbecue made a mess of my 3 burner big gas grill, caught on fire and ruined the whole BBQ by smoking out with a nasty taste to the chicken not recommended you cannot cook any kind of greasy food without it dripping and making a mess and flaming up hot dogs corn and vegetables are about the only thing I've been able to cook decently on this I don't even use it anymore it stays in the garage hasn't been in the RV for 2 years don't waste your money

One of my many accessories for my 3 burner and it does a good job on grilling up my food, from burgers to veggies. I love that I can be cooking on the grill box to char items up and on my third burner I can be rocking a large cast iron dutch oven and simply transfer the grilled meats and veggies to the cast iron to finish the cook in a low and slow braise.

I bought the whole Tahoe system a few years back and the smoker box is the pits. You can’t drop grease on a hot metal surface and expect it to work. I love the rest of it though.
