Make It Pop™ is a revolutionary sun gloss for protected, glossy, and poppin’ lips. Formulated with Broad Spectrum SPF 50, hyaluronic acid, tripeptides, and jojoba to enhance long-term moisture to lips while preventing premature aging. This sun gloss will make you feel and look good while protecting your lips from the sun.

Our story begins with the need for a sunscreen brand that caters exclusively to women of color.

From carrying expensive umbrellas to the beach to avoiding the sunshine all together, women of color have come up with their own methods of protecting their skin. For years, sunscreen has been tailored to light skin individuals, leaving behind a visible white residue on our darker skin sisters. Blotchy makeup and white residue were enough to keep people from truly enjoying a beautiful sunny day. Our founder thought it was about time to change that.

In 2016, Shontay Lundy created Black Girl Sunscreen, a 30 SPF lotion infused with natural ingredients. Made with melanated skin in mind, BGS dries completely clear and protects melanin without the white-cast.

Today, BGS is making moves! Black Girl Sunscreen has grown exponentially because of you. The goal of BGS is to start the conversation globally around sun safety to educate and protect melanin beauties worldwide. Uses

Uses helps prevent sunburn, if used as directed with other sun protection measures (see Directions), decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun

Directions

Directions apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure, use a water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating, reapply at least every 2 hours, Sun Protection Measures, Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a Broad Spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: limit fime in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses, children under 6 months: Ask a doctor.

BEWARE- Tastes Terrible

I love the way this gloss looks but do Not.. I repeat.. DO NOT lick it. It tastes absolutely awful and it’s hard to get the taste out of your mouth. If you’re a lizard and lick your lips, I would not recommend. The taste is horrid. I dont know how well it actually protects even tho I’ve used the whole tube. I supplemented with other lip spf products. It doesn’t seem to be very water resistant. It looks great on tho!

Not for me

I’ve been using it for a few weeks, mostly just to use it up. No plans to purchase it again. It’s not as good as other BGS products. It has no scent and if you accidentally taste the gloss while it’s on your lips it’s gross- like sunscreen in your mouth. Might as well be licking the sunscreen off my arm. I always have to use a better scented, more moisturizing gloss before I put this one on top of it.

Check expiration date but love it!

5 starts for sure. I absolutely love this spf lipgloss, but like someone else said, I got something that expires in 2 months…it’s not even summer yet. Why would Target send out old products at full price?! Very disappointed in that but really love the product. It’s glossy, makes my lips feel nourished and protected from the sun. Black girl sunscreen got it so right with this one! Go buy it!! Just check expiration date.

Great lip gloss, but check the expiration date!

Target shipped me lip gloss that has an expiration date in less than 2 months. By law, sunscreen products are supposed to have SPF protection for 3 years, which means Target is shipping products that are almost expired. I recommend this item, but check the expiration first if you want the SPF!

Best clear gloss on the market

This is my favorite new lip gloss. This stuff has the most gorgeous shine to it! Not sticky, great consistency and it has SPF to protect your lips - I'm sold. Hate the sunscreen though - the matte sunscreen is greasier than the regular version - switched to live tinted hue sunscreen ( it's fire). But the lip gloss I am here for - 5/5 hands down.

Great Product All Around - One Note

Super happy with this product and will repurchase. I have sensitive skin and lips, but have experienced no irritation. In fact, it has been helpful for my overall lip condition. The high SPF (50), fragrance-free, cruelty-free, and vegan are all amazing qualities that are hard to find. I even wore it while skiing and wearing a balaclava without it being sticky or messy. My one note, it has a minimal temporary taste in the mouth after application, but I find it passes quickly and if I am chewing gum, mints, or having a beverage I don't notice it at all.
