While cooking a pot of soup, the finish on the spoon portion melted and also bubbled up in some parts. I didn't see it until it was the time to clean dishes. I scraped off the bubbles as much as I could. So now I have the pretty colored handle with untreated wood spoon head which has turned a little gray-ish. I am not sure if it was stained under the paint. I haven't used it after the soup since I don't want to take any risk for our health. Maybe I will use this as a garden tool now.

Cracked within 1.5 weeks - hand washed only, & I was shocked it cracked so soon. Was just mixing rice in a pot on my stove & it cracked! Had it a week and a half, so not worth it.

This is not good for cooking it had me calling a plumber because I thought my water was bad. The smell it put off after cooking was horrid smelled like urine. I had to throw away my good pan and the food I made because it smelled so bad. I hope I can return these.

I bought this spoon about 10 days ago and I only use it to stir when I make my pitcher of iced tea. It is already chipped and the stain/paint is coming off of the spoon part and into my tea. It should stay decoration only.

The chemicals used to seal it are not natural. The first ingredient I googled and it's used in paint dinners, gasoline industrial lubricants... At that point I stopped googling and decided it's decoration and not for cooking. So I'm giving it three stars because it's going to be a cute craft project one day.

Purchased in January and it’s peeled since then and scuffs show up really easily like when I tap it on the side. This is after normal usage, I don’t leave my wooden utensils sitting in water either. It’s thick and heavier than my other spoons.

Like many of the reviews before me, I purchased this in store without reading the fine print. There are toxic chemicals used in this product. I will be returning. Target should be ashamed for selling this.

I just bought this spoon about 2 wks ago and it's already fading. Piece of junk!

The first time this wooden spoon touched warm pasta sauce, it began to smell really bad... Basically old like trash or butt. Also, the thing deteriorates even when hand washed only. What a waste of money for a 1 month spoon... Also, apparently there's toxic chemicals used to treat this based on the other negative comments. I missed that, but it makes sense... And completely defeats the purpose of choosing wood over plastic utensils.

Please read what chemicals are in this spoon. Not just pure wood. This product contains Toluene /108-88-3, Xylene / 106-42-3, Ethyl acetate.

This is the most beautiful wooden spoon I’ve ever had. Acacia wood > Bamboo. I’m so glad these utensils are reasonably priced.

TOXIC CHEMICALS IN THE SMALL PRINT, DO NOT BUY

This spoon is awful. I made cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and stirred it with this spoon. I then noticed the cranberry sauce smelled and tasted off. Turns out - it was this spoon. I immediately trashed it. I have no idea why it smells, but it must be something this spoon was treated with. Awful smell, awful product. It should be recalled.

I purchased this because I kept seeing recipes that called for a wooden spoon. I love it and use it all the time, it is very easy to clean!
