Q: Does the board have a protective coating on its surface? It does not feel like natural wood to the touch and after several weeks of use I’ve oiled it and it is not soaking in oil like I’m used to.

A: Hi Maija, I don't know for sure, but it sort of smells like they've coated the boards with linseed oil. As long as it's not boiled linseed oil then it should be fine for use.

Contains toxic Xylene
This seemed like the perfect wooden cutting board -- stylish, functional, and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, I discovered in the fine print that it has been treated with Xylene, which is a toxic substance. The most important reason to use a wooden cutting board is to avoid the toxic chemicals and microplastics inherent in plastic cutting boards. Unfortunately, the Xylene treatment largely defeats the purpose on this product. I hope target will offer a version that is just plain wood, or one that is only treated with food safe substances.

After 1 month of use the finish is coming off and they are full of knife marks. They have also started to smell. I tried cleaning with baking soda and lemon thinking maybe it was food remnants but still STINKS. I use one for meat and the other for produce and they have both developed the same smell.

Absolutely terrible quality! Purchased for drive up pick up. Upon unpacking to wash, I noticed the smaller board is flaking apart. Literally crumbling under my finger. The larger one was fine and I needed it for that night, so I washed and used it. After ONE use it has many cut marks on it. I have many wood cutting boards and I have never had this issue before. And now I can’t return because the one has been used (I was away from home and had no other choice). Stay far away from these!!! I would give them zero stars

Shipping disappontment
Hello. This item is beautiful. It arrived in a box that was crushed on one side and very beaten up. The item's packaging is torn so it will appear somewhat tacky to the recipient, as I have to tape it together. The back of the packaging is not intact either, but taping won't be quite as obvious. Again, the item is true to the description and very pretty. I was relieved to see the item wasn't marred due to shipping.
