Smart Tool
I've had this a couple of months and only used it a couple of times but it worked great and I'm happy that I have it on hand for future use. Thanks, Brian G DoD.

Tool great, carry case not as much
Received this tool this past Christmas. I love the tool very much. It replaced my Gerber. It smoothly opens, aesthetically it looks very pleasing, and the tools it has on it are great, not to mention the included bits. The only complaint I have is the carry case. I never minded not having a clip as I am used to looping my belt through my cases when I am at work. My issue is with the button for the belt loop. Twice already I have reached down and it was unbuttoned and hanging from my belt. All it would have taken is one bounce in the off-road cart I use for work and it would have been lost forever, which sucks. Also, not as big a deal, but the carry case I got does not have the skull stitched into the tab to pull the case open. I kind of liked the look of it and it being absent makes it feel like I got the short end. It could just be that after a couple of years production that it is not included anymore. If that is the case, it should not be in the product pictures. Anyhow, hopefully I do not end up losing the tool pouch from my belt with the tool in it, but otherwise a great tool in itself.

SOG PowerAccess Assist Multi Tool - EMS Review
Over all, high quality tool with excellent well thought out options which are quite handy for paramedic work but larger and heavier than expected. Also, the snap connection to hold it on my belt periodically gets snagged and un-snaps. Still an excellent tool. Dave.

Everything you could ever need. Smooth pliers!
TLDR at the bottom. This is everything I’ve been looking for in a multi tool. The assisted blade/tools feature is something I’ve been looking for that other major brands just don’t really offer after doing my research on other brands and compared the flagship models (arc, center drive, assist mt). I’ve been a long time fan of leatherman’s, however, they’ve outsourced (and over priced) their products over the years like everyone else. I didn’t like the reviews of the Ferber center drive that always show the pliers getting shaky and flimsy over time. The arc is just too over priced and the reviews aren’t always great. The price point for the PowerAccess Assist MT with the only real assist feature on the market was enough to take a chance on this SOG and it’s paying off in droves. This is the most functional, quality, and tool packed multi tool I’ve had and the price point in this economy is just too hard to beat. Get it and you won’t regret it. The only things I would like to see is the ability to add a pocket clip and maybe a higher quality steel for the knife but this steel is on par with pretty much all the other lines and their heavily promoted models at this price point. Final thoughts for TLDR… Smoothest plier opening I’ve ever had, very sturdy and well built feel, assist open multi tool is something you won’t leave for other name brand models. Just add a pocket clip feature and it would be perfect. Thanks!

The best multitool ever
The MT model is my EDC, Range and Hunting multitool. I've had tools from all the major brands and use only SOG. Swapped out some of the 1/4" bits for others that fit my firearms so it good for field repairs and adjustments. The pliers or any SOG are better than anything else on the market. The knife steel is good maybe a little better than what I expect on a multitool. The saw is better than most and will cut a 2x4. The gut hook is indispensable if you need to cut a tarp or wide strap. In a pinch you could field dress game with it. I don't miss the scissors on multitools and Swiss knives they always suck. The file is my only wish for this tool. Best all around tool I've owned

GREAT PRODUCT (CAN'T MISS AND NO REGRETS PURCHASE)
One of the best heavy duty multi-tools available. I have many multi-tools from other companies and this tops them all. Definitely would recommend this to anyone.

Leatherman beats sog multi-tool
The Leatherman multi-tool is better than the SOG Paratool. The Leatherman is smaller, smoother, and more reliable. The SOG requires extra steps to open and close, and pliers can torque out of alignment. Stick with Leatherman for a dependable tool.

Amazing multitool, mid tier pouch.
Amazing multitool my only complaint is that the belt pouch it comes with clips in via button. I've already lost one and had to order another multitool due to it falling off somewhere I couldnt find it. Also scissors would be an amazing addition.

Excellent with minor draw back
Excellent piece as always. Only negative i have is its extremely bulky to actually carry on your side and you have to pay with it a bit to get bit holder and piece to fit in pouch properly.

Pros and Cons of the PowerAccess Assist
Overall I like the tool. Some of the things I don't like are the one handed opening. While it does open with a flick of the wrist, it ends up hitting the back of your hand forcefully. The rubber sleeve that contains the bits can be rather hard to open. It is rather heavy to carry but that is the trade off for a quality product. I hate the holster for it. The snap closer came undone my first day and I almost lost the whole thing. I ended up wearing it side ways on my belt through to the two captured loops on the back of the holster but found it uncomfortable and awkward to retrieve the tool and the bits. I almost sent it back. I decided to keep it but I had to make a modification to the holster. I super glued the snap closed and sewed the bottom of the flap to the holster as a reinforcement. What I do like about it is all the tools can be accessed without opening the pliers. I also like the fact that the hex head for the accompanying bits can be used at a right angle when there are space limitations. While I have only had the tool a short time I do like it. Even though I wear it every day I have only had used it a few times and it delivered for me. The price point for the product is more than fair. While I mentioned the weight as a negative I found it comparable to the Gerber Center Drive I lost. This tool is its replacement and while I liked my Gerber, as of now I am leaning towards the SOG.

Best multitool on the market right now
I am a licensed professional engineer and I used a Power Assist nearly every day for 12 years before buying this and this is a worthy upgrade. I truly believe this is the best multi tool in the world right now. I'm giving 4 stars because there is room for minor improvement. The multi tool is stiff out of the box. The tools with thumb studs hurt to open or require two hands. I'm sure it will break in over time as my Power Assist is buttery smooth after 12 years. Quality is great although I wish they would have included scissors, a file, and a crimper for wire terminals like the Power Assist had (I modified mine to include scissors). The can opener and awl are less useful in my opinion as is having effectively 3 flat head screwdrivers in the tool itself. The locking mechanism is far superior to the Power Assist and the bit holder is a game changer. After all the tools the Power Assist had that would have been my next wish. The compound leverage pliers are the main reason I will never buy any other brand. I expect the Power Access Assist to be my favourite multi tool for many years to come and don't expect it to be beat any time soon and if so, it will be by another SOG.

Good tool .
I really think this SOG power access assist muti tool is really good but needs a couple of changes to make it more competitive with the Leatherman surge , the VICTORINOX Swiss tool and the Gerber center drive . It’s main competitors .The tools pliers feel really solid in hand and open very smoothly . What needs work is the power assist function for the knife and other tools . The tools don’t open smooth by pushing with your thumb because the numbs Stab your skin making it very uncomfortable unless you have skin like leather . You have to push the tools out around 15% with the nail side of your thumb then the assist feature takes over . That’s fine if you have long nails but if your the type of guy who has very short to no nails then you digging into your skin and it’s just downright uncomfortable . The Leatherman surge tools push out so buttery smooth . It needs a redesign. Also I want to have the seat Belt cutter replaced with Scissors or a metal file .

Terrible Assisted Opening
Don’t spend the money on the assisted opening. It’s absolutely terrible and I dang near cut my thumb EVERY TIME because it never want to deploy right. Disappointed and now stuck using it like I would if it wasn’t assisted opening. That being said, if it worked properly, I would have no problem giving this the highest possible marks.

A happy customer…
I am a satisfied customer. I like my SOG Power Access Assist (PAA) MT (Black). In my humble opinion, you can feel the quality of this multi-tool. I like the compound leverage on the pliers and the assisted-open technology. I even bought a second SOG PAA MT. This time it’s the Stonewashed.
