Description
Fermenting crock weight stones are used to keep vegetables submerged in the brine during the fermentation process. They are designed to fit inside fermentation crocks and rest on top of the fermenting food, applying gentle pressure to keep the contents below the brine level. This prevents exposure to air, which can lead to mold growth or spoilage. Their weight and shape create an anaerobic (oxygen-free) environment crucial for successful lacto-fermentation of foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, and pickles. Weights help keep food submerged in the brine while fermenting. Made for the numbered stoneware crocks. USA made in Ohio.

We bought the Crock Kit (crock, lid, and weights) to make sauerkraut. When I had made sauerkraut before I used this antique crock and cabbage cutter my parents used. To put weight on the cabbage to keep it emerged in the brine we used weighted pie plates. They would tip, sink, get messy. We got a crock weight. To keep it clean we sealed it in a Seal-A-Meal bag. It's currently keeping a batch of cabbage submerged in a brine as I write this review. We've been able to easily check the sauerkraut batch as it pickles.
I would buy this product again

I did not buy these for pickling--I bought these for making grape leaves. When you pack a pot for Boiling you need something to hold your food under the liquid so it cooks completely & this was it! well made and my Husband loved it!

Previously our cucumbers would float to the top of the brine and some mold would form which really grossed me out, but with these weights, the cucumbers remain immersed and we don't see mold while the cucumbers pickle evenly.

Place cabbage in crock press down with masher remove all air pockets.Place cabbage leaves over cabbage and place weights on top of product until liquid covers weights this the simplest and cleanest way to submerges cabbage during the fermenting process. Many of my friends said just get a plate and use a stone that has been boiled to sterilize it.That is all fine and dandy but you never know if that stone has been contaminated with Glyphosate s.For my family's safety I chose to purchase a brand new Made In The USA product.I am also investing in the Ohio Stoneware 3 gallon Crock next.I have nothing negative to say about this product.
Love my weights!

I can honestly say that I have never said I love my weights, Until now! They are fantastic. I made my first batch of pickles two weeks ago. These bad boy weights kept the pickles down in the crock where they belonged. There was no bobbing allowed. I highly recommend them. I'm going to make some saurkraut this weekend. It's great to be able to preserve the food you grew on your countertop! I'm a happy camper!!!!!!
Happy to find this product

We have a container we use for fermenting veggies and were thinking about buying a fermentation crock because of problems with finding the right system to keep the veggies submerged under the brind. The crocks are just a little more than we want to spend at the moment, so were thrilled to find these weights, which happen to fit perfectly in our existing jar. Thank You Gardener's.
