A: Hello, the fireplace itself doesn't require batteries. It needs to be plugged in for use. The remote control requires the use of lithium batteries.

Meh… I would t buy it again. The top is like marbled yellow instead of gold and the storage is very deceiving. The storage ends at the gold boarder instead of being able to use the whole rounded end.
