I’m Chinese and I’ve tried thousands of steamed buns in my life. I’d say, this LaoBan frozen bao bun is pretty decent for frozen meals. I chose to steam them (11min) instead of microwave (3min) for better texture. Personally I’m not a huge fan of chicken+mushroom buns, so I hope to try pork options if there are any.

Super soft, fluffy and delicious! The filling tasted almost identical to sesame chicken you would order at a restaurant, and the dough was surprisingly light and fluffy after being in the microwave. Would definitely recommend and will buy again!

Bought on a whim, since I love bao buns and they're almost impossible to screw up. Well... Laoban somehow managed to screw them up! The nutrition label should have rung alarm bells, but I was in a hurry and didn't check. >8% sugar!!! In a bao bun! This isn't a confection, it's a bao bun! TBH, I've never had a bao bun in America until now, so I don't know what the norm is here. Also, I struggle to find any healthy food at target outside of the vegetable aisle... products like this are a big reason why.

Quick meal, easy to make
I discarded the plastic packaging and microwaved all four buns with a damp paper towel on top. Took about 3-4 mins and they steamed nicely. Decent flavor and filling enough for a quick lunch!

I recommend steaming it to get the best results but if you must microwave it then make sure you thaw it a bit so all parts of the filling gets warm. When I mic’d it, there were still parts that were cold. Your bun will be more dry if you microwave but still yummy!
