Q: Is this butter lactose free? When doing a search for lactose free butter, this was one of the results.

No longer able to use this butter for baking

This was one of my favorite brands to use in baking but is now on my "don't ever buy again" list. Baked goods turn out flat and are missing that rich buttery taste they used to have. I have been home baking for 30 years and pretty much all the butter lately is the same so it is an industry wide issue they just refuse to acknowledge. Whether it's what is fed to the cows, or skipping other key steps in making the butter or just another scheme to make higher profits at the expense of the consumer, the result is low quality watery butter that has ruined many of my homemade dishes. It is ridiculous that the price of Land O Lakes is so high given its current low quality.

Land of Lakes Stick Butter

We have been using land of Lake Butter for as long as I can remember. Did you all change the recipe. For some reason it tasted different this morning. I could not eat the toast with this butter this morning.

READ THE FINE PRINT! $7 for 8 sticks that’s not bad right?! Wrong! They are mini sticks so basically you are paying for 1 regular box of butter. Stick with the 4 stick regular price!

Natural Flavoring

Why is natural flavoring in the butter? At the price point of this brand, cream should be the only ingredient in the unsalted butter. The natural flavor added doesn't have flavor. I buy butter to use for baking. There are several brands of butter on the market. Nearly all of them have natural flavor. What's the purpose? Do you need buy your cream from other vendors? Natural flavor is derived from a natural source but chemicals are mostly use to derive the flavor. I can come out better buying a generic brand that has the same ingredients as yours but for a cheaper price.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. The natural flavoring in our Unsalted Butter is lactic acid produced by the fermentation of sugar. It gives unsalted butter a more cultured flavor. This flavoring has always been an ingredient in our unsalted butter.

Great butter but weighs less than supposed to

I have been baking for years, and like Land O Lakes for when I need good butter, and buy it when it is on sale. The other day I accidentally bought half-sticks. I usually weigh ingredients such as butter. but sometimes if a recipe says to use 1 or 1.5 sticks I don't weight it out because every time I have the sticks are close to the expected 113g (a half stick should be at least 56.5g) . I weighed these half sticks and every one was short by at least 1g. Three half sticks weighed 165g instead of 170g. I'll never buy half sticks again!

Baking holiday cookies

I wonder how much % of fat is in the butter. Can you please tell me? My baking experience was very far from ideal.

Holes and half sticks

I recently have found holes in my butter. What is going on? I don’t like 1/2 sticks but certain times of year when more butter is purchased, the only butter left in store are the half sticks, so I’m forced to buy. They fall out of my butter shelf and waste of paper. I can’t be only person that get stuck buying it. I don’t think I’m only person stuck buying, so may not be as popular as you think.

Land o Lakes butter has been a staple in my home

Butter is not the issue--why the half sticks ? I bake a lot and to have to unwrap is twice the work. Inefficient and a waste of paper , in my view. Again, the butter is the best. The new packaging gimmick will cause me to choose another brand.

Great taste

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this butter to try and it was delicious! Very smooth and tastes wonderful. Used it for both baking and eating on cooked foods like potatoes and was very happy with it. Will definitely buy again.
