A Handsome Piece with Some Flaws
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying this Chantelle Sideboard is a real statement piece! The curved, waterfall edges are super stylish, and it definitely elevates the look of my living room. However, getting it from the delivery truck to its final spot was no joke. This thing is HEAVY. Seriously, you absolutely need two people to move the box. And a word of advice: assemble it as close to where you want it as possible because once it's put together, it's not something you can easily pick up and move. In fact, when we tried to slide it after assembly, it did fall apart – the bottom is really only secured with four screws, which isn't quite enough for this heavy a piece. On a positive note, the packaging was incredibly well done. The pieces were protected with a lot of cushioning, and there were even wooden pieces on the sides inside the box that kept everything safe during shipping. It was clear that a lot of thought went into ensuring that the sideboard arrived in perfect condition. Assembly definitely took some time. With two of us working, it took almost two hours to get everything together. The instructions were pretty clear, though, with pictured steps and detailed part numbers, which made it manageable. We even ran into a minor issue with some of the wooden dowels being broken in half, but thankfully, the hardware kit included some spares, which saved the day. Now, the doors... that was where we hit a snag. Aligning them was a real challenge, even with the tips provided in the instructions. And honestly, the included magnets just aren't strong enough. The doors keep popping open, which is super frustrating. We fiddled with them for a while but couldn't get them perfectly aligned. There's still a gap of over 1/4" between the doors, and honestly, after spending so much time on the assembly, we were too tired to keep trying to adjust them. Despite those issues, once it's all said and done, the sideboard is really sturdy and offers a ton of storage. The wire management holes in the back are a nice touch for keeping things organized. The top surface is also huge, perfect for my big screen TV, speakers, and even some game consoles, or you could use it to display home decor items. It's a very handsome looking piece, and despite the assembly frustrations, I think I'll enjoy it for years to come. Just be prepared for a project!
