Description

This carton of Vital Farms Organic Pasture-Raised Eggs holds 12 Large, Brown, Organic Grade A Certified Humane eggs that come from our collection of small family farms to give you a protein-packed meal.
Vital Farms Eggs begin with pasture-raised hens who enjoy a minimum of 108 square feet each of room to roam on small family farms. Our girls have the freedom to forage for local grasses, succulents and wildflowers on rotated pastures while enjoying fresh air and sunshine. Vital Farms began as a single-family farm. As we grew, we didn’t make our farm bigger – we found more like-minded farmers who put the welfare of their feathered friends first. Today, we work with over 350 small family farms who give the girls the outdoor lifestyle they deserve.

Q: Is the corn and soy fed to chickens also organic ir just non organic feed

submitted by lin - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi there! Thanks for reaching out with your question about our different egg cartons. All of our eggs are pasture-raised from farms where the hens have the freedom to forage outdoors year-round. Our farmers do not use any herbicides or pesticides on any of our family farms. The girls' foraging naturally maintains the land. What differentiates these cartons of eggs is the supplemental feed that the girls receive. Our organic pasture-raised eggs come from girls that are given Certified Organic supplemental feed, meaning all ingredients carry the organic certification. Our organic eggs are also non-GMO (reminder - anything that's organic will always be non-GMO!). The eggs in our standard pasture-raised carton come from girls that receive conventional feed. Our conventional feed is far from conventional though! When a new farm joins, we start with a recommended mix, and then continue to adjust based on the needs of the flock. Our farmers and Farmer Support Team closely monitor the girls and cater the feed to their needs year-round.

Q: Hi, I have found that I am allergic to benzoic acid. Is there any form of benzoic acid in the feed?

submitted by Yolanda - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi there! Our supplemental feed does not contain benzoic acid. We are unable to 100% guarantee that it is not used in other capacities by the 575+ farms we work with. We trust our farmers to know what is best for their individual flocks.

Q: Are the pasteurized hens fed a vegetarian diet?

submitted by Nom - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Nom, Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. Our hens spend their days foraging in the pastures, seeking out native and seasonal grasses like clover, rye, and wild onion. They don’t stop with plants, though! You’ll often catch our girls munching on a grasshopper or snacking on a worm. Alongside the food they forage, our girls receive supplemental feed. The supplemental feed consists primarily of corn and soybean meal, which the hens need for protein, as well as additional natural ingredients including paprika and marigold, which, along with their outdoor snacks, help the hens produce eggs with deep orange yolks that our consumers prefer. Our supplemental feed is developed by an animal nutritionist, ensuring the girls receive all the nutrients they need to support their health, active lifestyles, and overall well-being. The supplemental feed will match the certification of the carton. Our organic cartons will come from hens that were fed supplemental feed that's Certified Organic and non-GMO. We hope this helps!

Q: Are these eggs also pasteurized?

submitted by Kat818 - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Kat, as is the case for most in shell eggs, our raw in shell eggs are not pasteurized. If you have to crack one of our products open, it is not pasteurized. Our liquid whole egg and the cream used to make our butter is pasteurized. For additional information on safe food handling of shell eggs (raw and cooked), we recommend visiting this USDA site: https://tinyurl.com/yyvdn2cu.

Q: Why do the organic eggs weigh 12 oz and the others weigh 1.5 lb? Thanks!

submitted by JLH - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi there! Eggs are graded by carton weight, so occasionally you will see smaller eggs in with larger ones, but they should never all be small. We are required to weigh each carton to ensure compliance and we absolutely do this. Please shoot us an email at info@vitalfarms.com if you have any other questions.

Q: Does the organic feed contain soy or corn? Thank you.

You’ll often catch our girls munching on a grasshopper or snacking on a worm. Alongside the food they forage, our girls receive supplemental feed. Supplemental feed is provided to our hens in the barns and they can peck at it as they wish throughout the day to ensure they get all the nutrients they need. Because our girls get to choose how they spend their days, some girls spend more time outdoors foraging and feasting on natural grasses and crunchy critters, and some girls prefer to spend more time in the barns munching on the supplemental feed. It really varies from girl to girl!

Q: What's the difference between the USDA organic feed for the organic pasture raised eggs and the conventional feed for pasture raised eggs?

submitted by Jj - 3 years ago
  • A: Vital Farms hens have outdoor access daily, sun up to sun down! Around sundown the hens are herded back indoors to sleep safely inside.

Fresh, high-quality organic eggs for everyday use

What I like: The quality of these eggs has been very consistent. The shells feel sturdy, and the yolks are a rich yellow color, which I really appreciate. They taste fresh and work well for everyday cooking, whether I’m making breakfast for my family or using them in baking. I also like knowing they’re organic and pasture-raised. What could be better: They are more expensive than conventional eggs, so they may not fit everyone’s budget. That said, the quality and sourcing make it worth it for us. Overall: A reliable choice if you’re looking for organic, pasture-raised eggs. I would recommend these and plan to continue buying them.

So Old

I ordered these eggs on 12/06/25 and picked them up today, 12/07. Target gave me eggs that expire on 11/15/25. When I told the female associate about them, she told me to pick another one up on the other side of the store. When I got there, there weren’t any. When I returned empty handed, no apologies, and didn’t care. The workers need to adjust their attitudes and be more helpful to customers. I won’t be going to this place again.

I ordered two dozen vital farm eggs for $7.39 a dozen. However, your people that do curbside delivery out to the car did not want to give me my two dozen of eggs claiming that they were going to expire November 1st. as far as I'm concerned they probably lied so they can keep the eggs for themselves. those eggs fly off the shelves you can't even keep them stocked, that's how I know they're not going to be expiring anytime soon. Besides that, they act like they didn't want to give me my eggs. today's the 27th of October, it's not July 1st. NOW , I have no eggs for breakfast in the morning. whoever did that to me and canceled my order for my eggs, when I didn't want to, should find some other place to work. it was a young male.

Great brand!

I like this brand of eggs. The yolks are nice and orange. Pastured eggs are not fed insecticide sprayed grain, which is not good for our health.

Hi Janelle! We believe our price reflects the great amount of care and hard work from our farmers that goes into raising their hens humanely. There are extra costs associated with keeping our barn doors open year-round (especially in the cooler winter months when the barns have to be heated), feeding the girls the right supplemental feed and so much more. We offer 3 different varieties of eggs in hopes that our products will be more accessible to you.

Don't stink like the ones that aren't organic

Can tell the eggs are better quality by the color, shape, and shell thickness. They taste better than the ones that arent organic and they dont stink like them either which was a big problem for me because I would have to wash the dishes twice in the dishwasher.
