Q: Does the wood mantle have a smell to it? We got ours on Saturday and it has a distinct smell to it.

A: The finish coat can have a smell to it, but it shouldn't be too strong.

Cheap Looking
I was so disappointed to find this mantel appeared SO cheap- it looks like plastic. If you want a wood look this isn't your piece. It did look easy to install though.

Great Mantel Sheld, Great Price

Great looking mantel
We replaced our fireplace wall with stacked stone and added this mantel. The mantel looked great and matched the beams in our ceiling perfectly. If I ever need another mantel I will definitely use mantels direct again.

Perfect mantle
This is a beautiful mantle! Quality is fantastic, it is heavy so have an extra person available. The only downside we found was the 2x4 called out in the directions.....it’s actually more like a 1x2. And we ended up using different screws that were longer/better quality. Otherwise this is awesome!!
