Absolutely awful!
Absolutely awful! There's more lima beans than anything else, including noodles or fake beef, & they're hard as rocks. The mushrooms are somehow slimey, & the sauce is tolerable, at best. I really wanted to like these meals since they make them sound so good & it's hard to find good frozen vegetarian meals, but these are horrible. Never again!

Wish I could give this minus stars
I tried several of the purple carrot, frozen meals, and they were kind of overall, but this one was terrible. I threw it in the microwave and when I pulled it out to do the stirring, I noticed that some of the noodles look like they have been freezer burnt. I checked the packaging and realized the best by date was November 2024. I bought this in November 2025 at my local target not thinking that they want to be selling outdated items. I guess I’ll know better to check there because obviously the store is not doing their job in that regard.

Disappointed
I need to start by saying I really appreciate any company putting effort into plant based vegan products like this. But, this one just didnt hit right for me. The "savory sauce" tastes cheap and unappealingly sweet, comparable to ramen packet seasoning. The noodles were good and had a nice bite, and I like the vegetables. But unfortunately, those don't save the meal.

New recipe is bad
I have been eating these for a long time now and the flavor and texture has always been great. The last time I got it, the recipe was clearly changed for this and the orzo meatball one. Flavor is completely gone. Texture of the noodles was different. They need to go back to the original recipe.

HORRIBLE PACKAGING.
The actual food is amazing. I would eat one of these every day if I could. But the packaging is absolutely TERRIBLE!. I’ve had to return so many! for this reason! the film on the bowl is opened and the food is spilled inside the box. I open the box and food just spills out and the bowl has the film barely hanging on. For all of the recent times I’ve purchased it about 85-90% has had the same issue. If they ever fix the packaging, I would absolutely reconsider buying this again.

Needs new packaging asap. Box hard to open
The taste is normally fine, although sometimes there’s a moldy sesame seed, edamame or carrot. The main issue with these frozen meals is the packaging. It’s extremely difficult to actually open the box. None of the tear-away labels work. This has been an issue for years and it still hasn’t been addressed. In addition, the new bowls are not as sturdy and sometimes the film is already coming apart and as a result, there’s bits and pieces of food that have spilled inside the box. I had one meal today that was glued to the box and impossible to even remove. Please address these issues once and for all!!

Pretty good, but not what I expected. Fairly large serving. The noodles are the best part- thick and super chewy. I didn’t care for the carrots, as they tasted very ‘frozen carrot’, but that’s what they are! I needed to add some Japanese bbq sauce because the salt level was not hitting for me. I had high hopes for this, but overall it was yummy.

The worst Purple Carrot option
I've eaten all of the Purple Carrot frozen meals and subscribed to their meal service, so I'm generally a fan, but this was borderline inedible. It stank so strongly of mushrooms that I had to throw the bowl away in another room, the sauce was just kind of watery without any actual flavor, and the noodles and edamame were only about half cooked. I regret forcing myself to eat it because the taste lingers, even after eating something different. This one is a miss.

Tasty but full of sodium
I don't watch my sodium that closely but 900 mg for one meal is a lot of sodium. Unsurprisingly this meal is on the salty side, but it is otherwise tasty. I don't always love vegan beef substitutes but I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well it Incorporated with the noodles. Vegetables had a great texture and a good quantity. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the noodles. Maybe they overcooked them, because mine were nicely chewy without being rubbery or too mushy.
