I really wanted to like this strawberry scone baking kit, but it was a letdown. For almost seven dollars, I expected a lot more than four tiny scones. The cake itself was incredibly plain—so bland I could barely taste it at all. The cream filling had a very processed, artificial flavor, and the strawberry filling was skimpy at best. There wasn’t nearly enough to fill all four scones… maybe enough for two if you’re being generous. Honestly, the only real positive is that the kit included everything you need, even the little baking cups, which was convenient. But convenience doesn’t make up for the lack of flavor and value. For the price, I wouldn’t buy this again.

While the flavors were tasty, the cake texture was a bit dry, thankfully the strawberry filling helped with that. Next time I will be adding some of my own ingredients to doctor these up a bit. It reminds me of an angel food cake. This would have been a perfect job for my toaster oven because my oven rack was almost took far apart. I have to balance them perfectly. There was more than enough whipped cream for filling and a good amount of the strawberry jam.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently, I decided to try the Betty Crocker Bridgerton Petite Sponge Cake pastry kit, inspired by the popular Netflix series, Bridgerton. The idea of recreating a dessert in the style of London high society in my own kitchen was very attractive to me. Kit contents: • Mixture for sponge cake • Strawberry jam • Mixture for whipped filling • Aluminum foil molds Preparation: I followed the instructions provided on the box, which were written in a charming Lady Whistledown-style style. For the sponge cake mixture, I added water, oil and an egg, beating until a homogeneous mass is obtained. I speed the mixture into the aluminum molds and baked at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-18 minutes. While the cakes were cooling, I prepared the filling by beating the corresponding mixture with cold milk until a smooth and creamy texture was achieved. Once the cakes were completely cold, I cut them in half. I smeared a layer of strawberry jam on the base and added the whipped filling on top, then I placed the other half of the cake on top. To give it a final touch, I sprinkled a little icing sugar (not included in the kit) over the cakes. Result: The process was simple and pleasant, and the end result was delicious. The cakes were fluffy and light, perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the jam and the softness of the filling. In addition, the presentation of the cupcakes was elegant, ideal for a meeting or simply to give yourself a personal pleasure.

The packaging and instructions were easy to understand, the east of assembly was good. However where I would break some points would be the Overly sweet jam and artificial tasting whipped cream. It is good for the price and was easy to make however it did not satisfy my taste buds, I would not repurchase thank you.
