Q: If 1 light goes out, do the rest of the lights on the string stay lit?
A: Generally speaking, the rest stay lit unless the shunt wire in the bulb (which passes the current when the filament burns out) doesn't trip. If it doesn't, then a section will go out.

Q: How do you adjust or stop the flashing effect?
A: You need to exchange one of the bulbs with the red tipped bulb that comes with the lights. The red tipped bulb causes the string of lights to flash.
