The prop uses 3 AA batteries which are included. It will have to be turned on to be used. You can also turn off the sound and just have light and movement going. Hope this helps! - Josh

Was so excited when I received this vintage adorable Halloween Owl. Only used a few times on censored and now it stopped working the eyes don't light up anymore very disappointed. Unable to purchase in stores or be delivered anymore so I'm stuck with this broken owl.

I really like the fact that you have the option of it turned on without noice. It’s nice to see the green eyes light up and head move side to side in silence. I basically leave it on all the time.

Cute blow mold which moves and make noise! The first one did not work with the sound activation but the second works great. Plus target replaced it quickly so don’t hesitate to buy.

Such a fun decoration. I appreciate that you can turn off the sounds and keep the lights. My only complaint is that it came damaged. They didn't put any protection in with it. So it's scratched up bad

I initially bought this as a gift for someone who LOVED IT!!! I liked it so much I went and bought one for myself!! This is real cute! It's not too too big. It moves and makes hooting noises!! Can't get much better than that! Thank you! This is a great item! I also intend to leave it out all year, not just for Halloween!!

Nice weight, great colors. Since I'm picky about paint I purchased in-store so I could look the molds over. I'm not sure how well the paint will hold up as some of the molds scratch easily (please do better). Hopefully the mechanics (head movement) will work long term. I like that the sound can be turned off while still having it lit up. I had seen this blow mold on a Halloween YouTube channel that I follow, and she had mentioned the fertilizer smell. As others have said, it does smell a bit, but hopefully that will dissipate.

This owl is so cute, however the one I bought through the drive-up was missing an eye, so Target replaced it by shipping me a replacement which has , like others have commented, missing orange paint on its talon... it also smells really weird, almost like fertilizer. The sound and movement are really cute though!

Love the vintage look and the way he works is perfect. Bought mine in store, so no paint issues. Took off one star, because of the awful urine smell of it. I thought a rodent got into my home or a gas leak. I was relieved to find out it’s this smelly little bird. Still enjoy him a lot though, but hoping the smell will lessen over time.

I bought this in store today and avoided the apparent issues with damages when shipped. Love it! There’s no cosmetic damage and seems to be working just fine. I noticed the sound seemed louder on some of the owls so if you are able to pick one yourself, that might be something to look out for. Not sure if was just the battery level being lower on some?

Ordered with shipping since it was the only option and it arrived with the orange paint rubbed off the feet. Couldn’t exchange since it was now out of stock. Bought another one a few weeks later when in stock (shipping only) again and it arrived with the same damage. Now I’m going to wait until they are in store before I buy again and hope to find one without this damage. I plan to spray with clear coat to prevent this damage if I find one.
