Got this because I was worried about my daughter cutting things on my glass one (which I threw out). Used it today and it’s def not good as a cutting board. The wood comes right off. I told Target and they are sending me a replacement, I just hope it doesn’t do the same otherwise I will be sending back.
It’s okay, but if I’d seen it in person I’d probably have decided not to get it. The color/finish of the wood isn’t as rich in person and it doesn’t feel heavy enough to feel like a nice wood cutting board, but it does the job. The biggest difference is actually the shape. The pictures online don’t show you that there’s a bevel on one end that faces upwards and on the other end that faces downwards. The face of the board (what you cut on) is a rectangle, but the profile of the sides is like a parallelogram if that makes sense? Kind of an odd choice, I’d rather have had a nice classic rectangle but oh well!
The acacia wood looks great on just about any surface. Best used as a serving plate or an under liner to a coffee station. As a cutting board it marks up and damages easily. It is soft wood and corners become easily dented. If used as serving plate or underlined to something else it is great.
For the price it’s ok. It’s another made in China product with marginal quality. Uneven sanding, has splotches a couple of inches wide that are rough and will catch a paper towel if you run it across. On the plus side it doesn’t have a smell so the finish is kitchen safe hopefully. In this price range it’s fine, but just be aware what you are buying.
Gorgeous board, beautiful finish and solid. Definitely recommend! Easy to clean using only soapy water. From what I am reading, there is no need to season the board using mineral oil or vegetable oil - a plus.
