Q: I note Overall Height is 18.75". What is the height at the slats--upon which the mattress sits? (I want to know what depth mattress I need to get to have it a specific height from the floor.)

Q: I have cats and the tear apart the box springs. Will the drawers under this mattress cover the entire underside of the matrees so no scratching can occur?

A: No, the drawers only cover half the width of the bed when closed, plus the mattress also rests on slats with have gaps between them. You could block the cutout on the foot panel of the bed to prevent the cats from going under the bed.

A: No, it requires assembly with flathead and Phillips head screwdrivers and a hammer. Using a powered screwdriver will speed up assembly

It was a lot of work putting it together. I’ve been using it now for about a year. I’m pretty gentle with it so it’s still good, but I see bits and pieces falling off due to poor quality materials (lots of fiberboard). It’s a fine design. Very practical. I wouldn’t recommend using it for children or teens who are a bit rough on furniture. It couldn’t take the beating of a youngster.

A LOT of work to put together. Seems to be a good, sturdy bed. Not the quality I was expecting. It fits my 6'4" son so that's a good thing. I hope this bed holds up. Storage space is nice, but the drawers don't fill the entire under space. I thought they would be longer.

I have so much more space in my bedroom now. I ordered this when It was on sale on target.com, so I got a great buy. A family member encouraged me to get help putting it together from a neighbor. As a woman who can put together things on her own I said "no thanks" and took the time to put this together on my own. I just didn't pay enough attention to the picture in step 6C showing rails on both sides of the 6B boards. So, one side was tougher to put on after the bed was already put together. Altogether it was a lot of work. But, I love the storage bed. I gave my double bed and dresser away.
