  • A: I do not recommend that - based on personal experience with this shelving and other answers to a similar question. There are units meant to span a larger area and withstand the weight. Maybe from somewhere like Home Depot.

    I don't reccomend it, terrible quality.

    Flimsy and very cheap materials, but easy assembly. Even with the anchor to the wall it is not secured, so I don’t recommend putting that much weight on it specially if you’re using it vertically like me. So overall I’m very disappointed, but I’ll keep it cus I need it.

    8 Cube Organizer Storage

    Junk. Admittedly, I purchased a lightweight shelf, but it was for lightweight use. The problem is the “wood” splits when you put in the first screw…using a manual screwdriver, as directed. Not worth packing up and returning to the store, so we’ll eat the $40 and take it as a lesson learned. Do. Not. Buy. This. Junk. It won’t even survive assembly.

    Quality Downgrade

    We switched from the 13” cubes to the 11” cubes after moving to use as an entertainment center for our TV. I purchased the 13” cubes years ago and don’t recall 11” being an option. As others mentioned, the sturdiness is lacking in the 11” model. The 13” cubes were better quality and had a thicker, wood material being used (can’t speak for if this also changed recently). The backing supplied for this model is just cardboard. While the option to have more cubes is a plus, the longevity and sturdiness of the shelf is questionable, which makes the price not worth it. I would’ve went with the other model had I known.

    Be Prepared for a Very Strong Odor

    The odor was overwhelming. I could smell it as soon as I opened the package, and after assembly, the entire living room smelled strongly of chemicals. I had to keep my windows open and run an air purifier continuously. After spending a few hours assembling it at close range, I experienced throat irritation. I can’t say what specifically caused it, but the odor was much stronger than I expected. If you’re sensitive to strong chemical smells or have pets, I’d recommend airing it out thoroughly before bringing it into your living space.

    Wobbly and flimsy. Plius the screws don't go in flush. We are surprised at how poorly this made as we have several Brightroom cubby shelves in different sizes and love them, but this 2x4 is poor quality and disappointing.

    Very cheaply made

    This is very cheaply made. I have one that’s four squares, purchased about 4 years ago and it’s twice as heavy as this is. It comes with stickers to cover the screw holes and if you need to adjust them at all, the paint peels right off! I have it two stars because it was relatively easy to put together and looks like the box shows but it’s very poor quality. Buy at your own risk.

    DO NOT purchase!

    Absolutely terrible! Instructions say to hammer in the long dowels and only 2 slams in, the wood breaks! Since it was an in-store purchase, I was given guidance by the customer service agent via live chat, to return in store. Waste of time and has. Do not recommend at all.

    Cheap--buy it nice or buy it twice

    Learn from my mistakes. This is incredibly cheaply made. It couldn’t even withstand the weight of its own pieces. As I was placing the top on, it split out the sides, and couldnt hold the weight of what it was designed to hold! Lesson learned, just buy something nice. Not this cheap junk that will break eventually.
