A: The upper compartment on the 5-Shelf Bookcase measures 38" high and the two shelves are adjustable up and down. The lower compartment measures 24 1/4" high and that shelf is also adjustable up and down.

A: The 5-Shelf Bookcase has a weight limit of 25lbs. on each adjustable shelf, a 30lb weight limit on the middle-fixed shelf, and a 40 lb. weight limit on the very bottom.

A: The only tools needed to assemble the Sauder 5-shelf bookcase is a No. 2 Phillips Screwdriver, and hammer. If you would like to utilize the furniture tipping restraint kit that is provided, you would need a drill and pencil.

I needed a piece of furniture that matched my mom’s end table’s in a small apartment that she could place various things on. Found this and it worked out perfectly! This is a solid, heavy piece of furniture like it was bought from a furniture store, reasonably priced but just a little difficult to put together since there are a lot of pieces. Once everything was figured out it looked great and fit everything. Overall very happy with the purchase and would recommend.

VERY disappointed in the vintage oak color in person. I don't see any of the orange/ red undertones I see in the website pictures. I'm not paying shipping charges to return 435 pounds of bookcases. Now I'm stuck with 5 of these. Learn from my "mistake" (as customer service implied) and order color samples before buying. I didn't know that was a possibility.

These are nice sturdy bookshelves. They look nice and the shelves are sturdy enough to hold plenty of books. The instructions are pretty good and I had no real issues putting them together. Im really very pleased with them!

The bookcase is very nice, however, I was a bit disappointed with some of the quality. First, there were a couple of pieces that have some knicks on the surface which I didn't notice until I had it completely built. The other issue I have is the stickers that are supposed to cover the screw holes. They don't stay in place. It was better when you had the plastic inserts that you pushed into the holes.

I've bought these before and have always been satified with them. But this time, not all the hardware was packed in the box. I had to cannibalize my second bookcase box to get the remaining hardware I needed to finish one bookcase. The helpline says it will take care of the problem for me.

I should have known after I opened the box and the first piece I removed was cracked! I did get a replacement piece but later found several more pieces scratched, some with minor cracks but usable (?) or so I thought. The instructions are way too involved/ complicated( I consider myself pretty sufficient/ efficient when comes to assembling things. After finishing this project, it looks cheap, it's wobbly, it's not up to what I expected from Sauder! I have a 3 piece unit that I assembled close to 25 or 30 years ago and it's still sturdy and looks great!! This bookshelf/ bookcase not so much! My advice, spend the extra bucks a purchase something already assembled most likely from a furniture store. Quality seems to be a thing of the past.

This is probably our 5th Sauder bookshelf over the years, and we're still pleased with the product. It looks nice and feels very sturdy. There were some dents on this one, hence the 4 stars.
