Fixed installation is confusing, but works
For anyone else who chooses fixed installation with screws, the instructions aren't great. It does work in the end, though. Couple tips: 1) Where they say to "unsnap the mounting brackets off the rod", slide a flathead screwdriver under the edge of the white bracket piece. Pry it up gently with the screwdriver, and it'll pop out. 2) You'll need bigger drill bits for the drywall anchors. They recommend 7/32, we used 3/32. The anchors are flimsy and wanted to bend as we hammered them in. Lastly, don't skip tightening the rod after you've popped it into the bracket. Lengthen the rod as far as you can, almost as if you're using it like a tension rod, then twist until it's tight.

This is not chrome!
This is not real chrome. It looks like it was spray-painted to resemble chrome, but it lacks the shine and reflective quality—this looks nothing like authentic chrome! False advertising! It is just a grey shower curtain rod!

I purchased 3 of these to hang shear curtains in a weird bathroom window. Because i was using lightweight sheers in a bathroom window i used two rods/ two sets of shears. 1 of the 3 rods lost its tension ability within n 3 months. That was just holding lightweight shears.

I have tried and tried to hang this shower rod to no avail! It has fallen down four times and I cannot for the life of me find any instructions or videos! Waste of money!

Sturdy
This is not like the tension rod that you twist to get the size you want, then squeeze it in place. You put it in place and slide it to the desired length. Then you twist the narrow part of the rod till it is snug in place. I had to have my daughter hold one side while I slid the rod to size and tightened it. It is a little heavy so it is quite sturdy with the curtain on. It's supposed to be chrome but it is more of a dull grey color. The shower curtain hooks slide easily and stay on the rod. I'm happy with it but if you want the shiny, silver chrome perhaps you should skip it.

Not recommended for permanent installation
Permanent installation is tricky and not user friendly. Taking off the screw in pieces is very hard and I broke both pieces. One trying to take it off the rod, the other trying to put the rod back on it. I ended up drilling holes through the metal and into the walls. I got it on sale so I’m not mad about it but a forewarning.

Terrible!
This is the worst shower curtain rod I've ever used. There is no tension and I wasn't even able to get to work. I struggled for 20 minutes to get it to stay, then it fell, and it BROKE when it hit the bathtub. Unbelievably flimsy, I can't believe they even put this thing on the shelves.
