The 72" Loring 5 Shelf Ladder Bookshelf from Threshold is designed to be secured to a wall using the included anti-tip anchoring hardware. It is not intended to be a free-standing item, especially when used as a room divider where it is not supported by a wall on one side. I hope it helps - Juliette.

I wanted to love this item. It’s so cute and I loved how versatile it was going to be in my classroom. However, upon assembly, there were several bolts and a screw that did not align properly and I could not tighten all the way or at all. Additionally, it did not sit level on all four legs which made it wobbly.

Do NOT buy. I have bought two of these now and both times the shelf has come damaged. I bought one in store and one online. Both times the metal pieces were bent and damaged. The second time I ordered online, the package came without the instructions or hardware. Seems like target is going too cheap and selling bad products.

Best Press-Board Furniture Around!
These shelves are so sturdy! Way sturdier than any other piece of press-board furniture I've ever owned. Putting it together was relatively simple and I was able to do it solo. I saw some of the negative reviews saying the wood broke as they put it together. This can easily be avoided by following the instructions to adjust the connector/cam locks when you meet resistance and by not screwing in too much. The biggest annoyance was how many of the connectors I needed to adjust, about 2/3 were in the correct position but the rest needed adjustment. Overall, I'd definitely recommend these, especially if you own a lot of big/heavy books.

Sturdy and good value, simple clean aesthetic. Holds a lot of items and is not flimsy at all. Definitely a two person job in assembly, and all of the bolts use an Allen wrench, the one provided would take forever to use, my screwdriver with the appropriate attachment worked much easier. Only one bolt out of the entire unit was really stubborn and never went in quite right...but all others (and there are several) had no issues.
