I am absolutely disappointed in this spreader. I bought it at Christmas & can't return it. I have had 2 other people look at it & we can't adjust the rate. We did get it to stop just spilling the load before we start. I have been on a farm & in construction all my life but this one takes the cake.

I bought this unit a few years back First couple uses were great! Worked has described Stored unit in my storage unit out of the rain and weather. Less than two years after and the unit completely rusted the interior auger parts. Why this would be made from regular steel to rust is beyond me. Company wouldn’t stand up for warranty. Don’t waste your money here. Junk!

I've owned this unit for eleven years. The handle that locks the unit in the up position releases during transport. The aerator spike wheels are not long enough to penetrate the ground in low spots.

I was missing screws,This is not built friendly for a older person it would be to complicated. May be you guys want to save labor ,but at least the star part should come assembled.And not for 1 person to build.I would recommend if it was more the half built

Works great. Did a nice job of spreading fertilizer on my walking trails and around the pound. No longer getting fertilizer in the water.

Easy to assemble, Did a great job on its inaugural run. Soil was aerated and seed was dropped to cover nicely. Waiting patiently for green to show.

When I open the box to make the assembly of spike the package that holds the screws and other small parts had been torn open. I called and spoke with Myra in customer service and she knew what to do immediately! She was absolutely one of the best service personnel I have ever encountered. The missing part was mailed as she promised and received exactly the day she promised. Great job Myra, the company should be very proud to having you represent them!

Excellent product. Used to aerate and seed my 1-acre property. Assembly was moderately difficult, but end result is sturdy.

I drug this around the yard multiple times to get more airiation . Unfortunately the wheel control arm kept bouncing around and would lock itself with the wheels engaged. I was able to add a catch mechanism that controls that and have not had any issues with it since.

First, this is not a true slit seeder. It is a drop spreader with 8 metal narrow slits that cut into the soil. However, they are spaced far apart vs the numerous holes dropping seed / fertilizer so the chances of any seed dropping into the tiny void created is highly unlikely. I will need to go over the area with my plug aerator afterwards to hope some dirt eventually covers the seed -- otherwise it is wasted. I suspect it would be best for fertilizer whereby you get some aeration at the same time you are dropping product (not caring if it stays on top or goes into the ground). FRUSTRATING DESIGN ERROR. The lift wheels are activated when you pull down and "lock" the handle to tow the device over driveways, etc when not in use. However, the forward angle of the wheels means WHENEVER the wheels encounter any hose, or bump in the grass -- any kind of resistance -- the tiny force causes the wheels to rotate, which causes the handle to be forced down and OUT of the lock. so now the wheels are unlocked, can disengage and allow the steel spikes to drop onto the ground. It all has to do with the angle of the wheels vs the handle -- bump retards the wheels while you pull forward with your lawntractor => wheels rotate back, handle goes down => unlock => entire unit drops onto the spikes. BAD. no simple way to tie off the handle to keep it locked. Spikes: While any aeration is good, I had to build a tray for a cinder block to add weight to push down the spikes into the ground. (Other exact looking ones from other dealers?? come with such as tray). Parts Missing -- like so many reviews online, yes, I had a part missing. How can quality control in the USA not be able to pack one bag of parts without something missing, yet stuff sent halfway around the world for Ikea or from China shows up without a problem. Gotta get that sorted out. Seriously!!! Overall disappointed with the combination. It is basically a drop-spreader that happens to give you a little bit of aeration, but certainly not a slit seeder like the promotion video suggests.

ports constantly clog /poorly design with cheap parts. Would not recommend to anyone. Don't waste your time and money !!!!!

Bought this and was anxious to use it. Poured fescue seed in and set it on 3 setting. Put 40lb of seed on less than a thousand square feet. tried adjusting the setting but seed still poured through. Checked to see if was put together correctly and it was according to video. Material was flimsy . The spikes didn't pierce the ground or thatch dead grass. No bearings in wheels metal screw threads and washers rub plastic wheels. Product did not perform as advertised.

I purchased the 100# spike seeder last monday. Assembled it yesterday and then planted grass seed. I like it very well. I did notice that some of parts have changed from what the assembly youtube video. Spacers on spikes have changed from metal to plastic and now no spring on the adjustment lever. I am assuming those are improvement changes?

I used my 32" 45-0309 for 12 years. 4 times every year (seasons) over 2 acres of grass each time spreading 600lbs of fertilizer. The first 4 years was in SC and the soil was sand. The past 8 years is in NC on Clay soil. Great product. Just purchased a 45-0543 an upgrade to the 45-0309 same size. On sand there was nothing to do to prep the soil. On clay I found if I watered the grass the night before and then use the spreader before 9AM the next morning there was never an issue with the spikes entering the clay. I will now order parts for the 45-0209 is due for a little maintenance.

Works great and spreads evenly. Quick and easy to get parts under warranty.

Quality made US product, all parts were supplied. Suggest better instructions or more of it put together. Liked size diagram of the parts.

Just got mine, put it together, was impressed with the engineering of the unit. Hooked it to my tractor and it was like I was back on the farm again running a seed drill, what a good spiker / seeder, smooth operation, worked perfect. This is a great product, glad I made the purchase, it will make maintenance of my lawn alot easier, aerating, seeding, and fertilizing. Thanks for the great product.
