P220 for Acoustic Bass
The P220 thus far has been great for my home recodings for vocals. However, I've recently tried recording my acoustic bass w/ it and have yet to get anything resembling a clean, warm sound. I've tried all the different switches - its either way to bright or way too weak (tiny signal) and nothing in between. I've tried many different mic positions. Any further recommendations would be appreciated.

Great Price Point
I used this mic for brass and another time for male vocals. In both instances the results were good, but the sound pickup on the instruments was much better than the vocals. Will use this as a backup for more expensive mics.

A fantastic sounding mic, though a bit bright
I love this mic; it has great level (I don't have to turn the preamp up too high) and has an open, airy sound yet with depth. The one thing I wish was different (and why I took off one star) is that it has a sharp peak at 10 kHz which makes the audio, eg my vocal, VERY bright. And it's not a "crisp" bright - it's more of a "very focused" or sharp bright, if that makes sense. I could tame it with EQ but that would be annoying every time, so I accomplish it using a foam wind sock (foam pop filter that slips over the mic). You wouldn't normally do this with a studio condenser because it attenuates the highs, but it definitely smooths out the top end. :) Regardless, I REALLY like this mic and I can recommend it for vocals and guitar. Final note: the mic preamp is often not talked about when it comes to the sound of a mic - different preamps give different sounds and frequency responses. Currently I'm using a Behringer UMC 202HD and its preamps seem to be a good match with this mic.

Great value for the project studio
I've owned a P220 for some years. Was very impressed with the quality from the start. I use the mic for several applications, vocals, acoustic guitars and room mic'ing. It has a wonderful sound on all, and never lets me down.
